Our priority is always to provide long-term repairs rather than temporary fixes. When we inspected your F-150, we found significant movement (play) in the pinion. In our professional experience, replacing a seal on a loose pinion is often a short-term 'band-aid' because the movement will quickly cause the new seal to leak again. This is why we recommended a full rebuild to address the internal wear.
We actually suggested you visit the Ford dealer because, at 51,000 miles, we wanted you to check if this internal drivetrain issue was covered under your manufacturer’s powertrain warranty—which could have saved you from paying for the repair out-of-pocket entirely.
