I contacted the body shop that worked on my van on Monday, March 23, 2026 to inform them that my air conditioner was not working. They tell me to take it to 19 Covil Avenue.
I drive my car to the business. It's a hot day to be in a vehicle. I realized the younger 2 of my children are sleeping. I did not want to have to wake them and carry them; My older children were eating. Therefore, I called the sign outside that said Performance Auto Specialist.
I was greeted by Jen. I said "Hi then stated who I was and who send me. I said she said you all can see me today. I'm sitting in the parking lot with my kids." She said, "Oh, we can't see you today, but bring your car Thursday at 8 a.m. and we will look at it for you." She continued saying they were booked even if I was in the parking lot. This was around 4 p.m., so I left to take my kids to their extra curricular activities.
I got a text saying they were at Corporate Drive, so I drove my van there. When I walked in, I said "Hi, I'm Rachael Goodman with the body shop. There was a bald head guy up front who I believe was named Chris. He took my keys.
I caught an Uber back home since my husband was at work.
I got a call in the afternoon from Performance Auto Specialist telling me my compressor was broke and I needed a part for $1,900.00. They asked if I wanted them to fix it? I replied, "No, I don't understand why insurance is not fixing it when it was working beforehand. I'm going to call the insurance guy."
I called multiple times throughout the day. The agent with Farm Bureau claims calls me back around 3. I explained I'm being charged for $1,900 by Performance Auto Specialist when the body shop said it was fixed.
I hung up then I called the body shop and told them I was being charged for my air conditioner being fixed.
The man working at the body shop calls me back and states that they are still waiting on me and they do not have my van! I replied, "Yes, they do. What are you talking about?" He said, "You called and said you were in the parking lot." I said, "Yes." He starts repeating they gave me the address.
I was still confused and upset at this point. I realize I called them because they left a sign behind at their old business.
I call Performance Auto Specialist to figure out what's going on. They get rude with me. (I think it was Chris) They tell me I'm paying them, the body shop or my insurance! It was $293. (They did do an inspection for 14 dollars, so the $279 was the diagnostic test).
I thought they had two locations. They never once said they do not work with insurance then Jen tried to tell me they were not responsible for that sign. Everyone says it is negligence on their part to leave their sign behind. It seems it was done on purpose. I will NEVER be convinced that it was NOT done on purpose.
I called Performance Auto Specialist and told Chris that no one told me that they did not work with insurances or the body shop. I told them multiple times they send me and it was an insurance claim.
I asked if they recorded their calls because I told them the first time I called who send me. He got quiet and did not answer that question.
I find it disgusting that they are taking advantage of business(es) and people in their own community by leaving their sign up and causing confusion which seems to be on purpose.
I paid the $293.00 reluctantly because I needed my van for my family.
Keeping quiet to trick people into using your services so you can charge them is about a low as it gets. They clearly have NO morals.
I am writing this review because I do not want another person confused or taking advantage of the way they took advantage of my family.
My car had ALL brand news parts. It did NOT need what they said Prime shield had the air working in about 30 minutes. Clearly, they do shoddy work slowly. They were going to charge me for a part when my van had just got all new parts. I'm glad I found out they were sleazy at the least.
