Rocco’s European Garage experience – Brought my car in for diagnostics, suspecting my turbocharger was bad on my 2012 VW GTI. I was advised that the charge was approx.. $160.00, waited at the shop for 4 hours, asked the front desk (service advisor?), to speak with the mechanic several times since the “service advisor” was not able to answer my questions and kept going back to shop to consult with the mechanic. To make a long story short, this shop is a rip-off. They string you along for hours so they can bill you. A leak on the exhaust was found, (very visible once you have the car up on a lift), two clamps were installed, ($38.00 part) additional testing to determine the turbocharger needed to be replaced and a whopping bill for $797.00 to the customer. Needless to say, I paid the bill, declined the additional services they recommended with a price tag of $5000+ and got my car out of there. Day after, I received a text message from the shop (the Mgr.), to check if “everything was running smooth”. I replied back expressing my dissatisfaction, a few hours later the owner contacts me and stated, “how can I make it to you”, give him a couple of days to investigate this matter. Conclusion, a couple of days turn into a week and never heard back from the owner. It obviously a scam, stay away from this place. My car was taken to another shop that specialize in foreign cars, got it fixed for $1500 less with excellent “service advisors/customer service” and mechanic with the skill to communicate with the customers. I found it very interesting that Rocco’s garage, after diagnosing my vehicle for 4hours+ was not able to detect that the radiator sending unit was bad, makes me wonder, do they know what they are doing or they are stringing along/ripping you off for additional services to bill the customers. Good luck to future customers.
