Miracle Workers
The first time I went to the Auto Spa was about ten years ago, totally by accident. I had been turned away from the Ford dealer, again, when I needed a brake/direction light bulb replaced, a five minute job. I had purchased my Mustang from them new, and they had a sign that read “No Appointment Necessary” but they didn’t honor this sign the three times I tried to get oil changes there. On the way home, I saw the Auto Spa a few blocks away and without an appointment, I just dropped in. They quickly and pleasantly replaced my light bulb. Today, I had taken apart the two Mustang key fobs to replace the batteries and couldn’t get them back together. I felt like a real boob and I figured the Ford dealer would make short work of putting them back together. At 2:30 I couldn’t get anyone but an operator to speak with me at Al Packer Ford, from where I bought the car, and getting no response when she tried to transfer me a few times. Irritated, on a whim, I called the Spa, and they said to come on by to their shop and they’d handle it. I drove in, handed them a plastic bag full of parts and asked them to call me when they finished it. I started to drive home and before I got three blocks away they called and I came right back. When I got home, I tried out both fobs and they worked fine. I have a modest six car, car collection and over the ten years, since I started taking my cars to the Spa, I figure that the Ford Dealer has lost about $30,000 in business from me.
