Once in a lifetime!!!!!
My wife and I are new to Republic and new to Missouri. So far we haven't had a , need for a mechanic, other than routine maintenance. A. few weeks ago our check engine light came on while driving in Iowa we had it checked at a shop and was told it was our Solenoids', we had i replaced for 175 dollars than headed back to Republic. After we got back I noticed a small amount of oil leaking, not knowing who to take it to I asked the guys at ORiley's and they recommended Yoccums. I was impressed with the front office and felt confident on leaving our 2016 Equinox with them. A few hours later I was told that both Solenoids needed replaced, for 270 dollars. Patently I waited for the repairs to be done. Once we got it home the next morning I noticed a river of oil under the car, and the motor and underneath of the car was coated. I took it back to Yoccums again and was told it was a bad Solenoid that they put on so they replaced that. The oil still leaked badly, and again I was told this time we think it is the oil gasket. For another 200 dollars. I asked the girls in the office if I could talk to the mechanic and ask why we were throwing parts at this problem, I was told it is not their policy to let customers talk to mechanics. That should have been the big warning sign, there has to be a reason they do that. I would hate to guess. So finely I was told I needed a new Head, and you guessed it for another 3000 dollars. I think I surprised them when I said I was going to have my vehicle towed to Billings Auto. Because Josh at Billings said he had never seen such a mess on my engine, parts were in the wrong area it was a mess. My feeling is Yoccum felt confident that I would just continue to pay for work on my car without debate, They had already began to remove my head. And when they found I was not going to let them do the work they just threw everything back and closed the hood. So after paying them around 700 dollars I felt I had found a qualified mechanic in Billings. Oh and the new head was 2000 dollars not 3000 like Yoccum wanted.
I'm not sure what I will do in the future concerning this mess, but I would definitely say "Buyer Beware of Yoccum Automotive" they might do a great job doing oil changes and tire repair, but I would never let them do anything else!!
Sorry I had to write about this, but for a oil leak it cost me 2700 dollars on a vehicle with 80k miles.
