A fun car around town

First 60 miles are battery powered. Car then seamlessly switches to gasoline power for 350 miles before it is necessary to restock. Since I'm home most nights I use my garage's electrical outlet and rarely get to a gas station. Charging power costs ~2 cents / mile. This car out-accelerates most stuff on the road and is a gem cornering.

It's my second and I love it.

I got rid of a 2009 Range Rover to jump into a 2012 Chevy Volt with high mileage that was basically given to me. I have never looked back! Even with the limited EV range before the engine kicked in of the 2012 Volt (20-25 miles) I found that i never needed gas because my commute was short and errands are all pretty close. I proudly drove that car for 2-3 years without any need of service, including no oil changes, and only two tanks of gas! When a freak hail storm totaled it, I went and purchased Gen 2 2016 Volt with 35k miles that I have been driving over a year and have not needed service, oil, or even fuel beyond what was in the car when I received it! Driving is the definition of excitement. After getting over the initial shock of not making a sound as I blow the doors off loud fart-can sounding cars and egocentric tall-truck people, I now revel in the sound of silence while driving. I live on a hill, while pulling out to go up it to work, I wake no one, no matter how fast I go. Inside is quiet as well, there is not a transmission so there is vehicle trembling while driving. The cockpit is yours to fill with Bose's sound and it is fantastic.

Love my Volt

I have been driving my Gen 2 Volt for 6 months now and I love it. Smooth ride and it handles great. Negative point is the radio, reception varies a lot. Sometimes lose the station. Did not have this radio reception problem with my2004 Chevrotel Malubu maxx.
