Life-Threatening Powertrain Issues

Our 2025 Hyundai Hybrid Santa Fe SEL experienced multiple (4+) instances where the combustion engine failed to provide power to the vehicle’s wheels. The engine continued to run, but only enough to maintain a charge to the hybrid battery system. When accelerating to speeds above 30 miles per hour or when traveling up inclines, the combustion engine’s rotations per minute (rpm) spiked, however the vehicle’s power-train still rapidly lost power and the hybrid battery drained significant charge. During one instance in November 2025, while attempting to accelerate to 55 mph up an incline, the hybrid battery drained enough that the vehicle was required to be pulled off the road to allow the battery to charge. During a April 2026 event, while containing a family of four (including two young children under six years of age), the vehicle failed to accelerate to 60 mph up an incline on an interstate freeway bridge. The vehicle rapidly slowed to between 20 and 30 mph, putting the family in grave danger from high-speed collisions. Following both instances, the on-board diagnostics computer was reset, “resolving the issue” and the Hyundai technicians elected to make no further repairs or replacements. The onboard diagnostics code P0191 was reported following the April 2026 event, however no codes or errors were identified by the Hyundai technician following the November 2025 event. No additional follow-up was performed, even though the vehicle remained under the manufacturer’s warranty.

Great Economy, Space and Style

My Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy is an excellent vehicle. It has cavernous space, with 40 cu. ft. storage behind the middle seats, more than enough to carry my golf clubs, electric push cart, and other gear. I rarely use the third seat, but it is good to have it available on those rare occasions. The fuel economy, while not consistent with the EPA estimate (or the onboard computer), is excellent for this size vehicle; I'm averaging 31-33 MPG in mixed driving, highest for city drives longer than 5 or 10 miles. The HDA2 driving assistance system is the best I've experienced, a quantum leap above the HDA1 I had on my 2024 Ioniq 5. I couldn't be more pleased with my 2025 Santa Fe!

Santa Fe Hybrid

Excellent value for the money. Outstanding safety features. Road handling is excellent. Interior cabin space and seating capacity is excellent. Passenger captain chairs are comfortable and well designed. Hybrid around town mileage averages 38-41 mpg. Highway mileage averages mid 40's-51 mpg.

2025 Santa Fe

Love this SUV. Lots of room inside. Bought this to travel in and take the grandkids around. For my wife and I we can carry enough to go more than a week and have the luggage covered in the back. And we can put all the grandkids (4) in it with a good level of comfort.

Santa Fe is a wonderful SUV

Extremely pleased with the Hyundai brand, as I have purchase 4 vehicles from Hyundai all SUV's. Excellent service, maintenance and warranty. Ride quality is excellent, and interior well appointed. Gas mileage great with the Hybrid engines, although a little pokey. Cabin is quality and quiet. Very happy with the vehicles and brand. Look forward to 2027 Tuscon HEV.

Never Argued More with a Vehicle

The vehicle rides great, great gas mileage, and after 27K miles in a year, no maintenance issues. The reason for the four stars versus five stars is the alerts and warnings. Change lanes, an alert because a car is two lanes away from you. Twenty minutes after getting in the car, "Consider Taking a Break". You know how long I have been in the car and how many miles we have gone in 20-minutes, why are you telling me to take a break? Collison warning, no we are not going to have a collision. Today when backing into a parking spot a car went in front of me after I got half way into the spot. Even though backing it decided we were going to have a collision and slammed on the breaks, which nearly did cause a collision and me frantically looking about trying to see what I missed. I did not miss anything. I now have alert fatigue. I just ignore them. If on curvy stretches of highway I turn off the drivers lane assist rather than fight it to keep the car in the lane. It is not autonomies because it uses the lines on the road to determine the lane and when those lines disappear, it gets confused.

Too intrusive

I live approximately 200 miles from where I work. So I spend a lot of highway time with this car. There is no way to turn off all of the safety features. And it is constantly telling me to consider taking a break which is very annoying. The car makes no allowance for where I ride in the lane. It simply thinks that the car should always be centered in the lane. Or if you see something in the road and try to avoid it, it tells you to take a break. It’s maddening and frustrating.

Outstanding Santa Fe Hybrid

My Santa Fe Hybrid is the most comfortable and fuel-efficient vehicle I have ever owned in over 50 years. It has more than enough power when you need it while getting 36-38 mpg on the Interstate Highway and 42-45 mpg around town. The heads-up display is a must, and all the voice activated controls are great.

Defected car

The car had a bad electrical issue that could not be fixed and forced me to change it and lose money now the, 2 times the car was out of power. The car interior lights on the dashboard turn on by itself and at the end the Dealer said they didn’t know how to fix it

My 2025 Santa Fe

Overall Satisfied. Transmission is very jerky at lower speeds. Concerned it will fail eventually. Hopefully, if it does fail it will happen why it's still under warranty.
