Great ride and amenities, very uncomfortable seats

I loved the look and features of the Santa Fe. However, the seats were very uncomfortable and the side bolsters were very hard and way to compressive. Within 6 weeks I was having significant leg and back pain. After seeing my physician to ensure no other reasons for the back pain, we concluded it was the car. I ended up selling at a loss at less than 1000 miles. Am now in a Nissan and much happier with the seat comfort. It was unfortunate as the Santa Fe had all the features I loved. I had a Tucson before this and never had any issues with seat comfort, but it was an older car.

Why Below Average

While I absolutely love this vehicle, I recently took it on a road trip and learned some things about it. There is ABSOLUTELY no air in the third row, unless the windows are down, and no speakers as well, so you can barely hear the music. On top of that the gas mileage decreases significantly if it's windy. While I generally average around 37, it dipped in the 20's when we dealt with wind. To me it felt like Hyundai was like "We're going to make 3rd row standard, but if they only buy basic, we don't care about 3rd row passengers, they have to upgrade".

Sante Fe Review

Love all the safety features and the gas mileage. Seats are not comfortable for long drives - I am a 5'10' 145 pound woman, drove a 2018 Chevy Silverado which I traded for this - and the driver's seat is hard and not deep enough for me. About 2 hours is all I can take in that seat without discomfort. Also, the rear hatch opened on its own several times so that I had to turn off the remote approach release which was a feature I enjoyed until I had to stop. using it. Gas mileage is not what was advertised on highways, but better than the Silverado, of course.

Almost perfect

All in all, I love my new Santa Fe hybrid. My main dislike is the fact that when I hit resume on the cruise control there is a delay in its activation.

Improvements

The 2026 model is missing features and interior pieces that were included in the 2025 model. They removed items without adding anything to replace them, which leaves empty spaces in the interior and makes the design feel unfinished.

My new Santa Fe

Thrilled. It was recommended by my back surgeon that I trade in my Sonata for an SUV after my back surgery. What a difference. So, I’m grateful that a simple change in vehicle has helped my healing.

Do it - Buy the Santa Fe

LOVE my vehicle. I feel spoiled every time I drive it. Drives amazing, handles great and has every bell/whistle you can think of. Fuel economy is outstanding which is a must with gas prices this high.

Great car!

I love almost every aspect of the car. The design, the drive, the ride, etc. The gas mileage was over-estimated, but it’s still better than my all gas SUV used to get. I don’t love the shifter, but I like that the center is so spacious and usable.

Overall, fairly happy

On the whole, I’ve been happy with this vehicle. I have a few gripes so far: one is reaching advertised MPG (even when following all best-practices for hybrids) and the other is climate control for second and third rows. The trouble hitting advertised MPG is something I was aware of going in, so not too surprised. But I rarely hit a 30 mpg average in spite of nearly all my driving being city driving in eco mode. The climate control for second and third rows is enormously frustrating - second row has only side vents, they seem far weaker than the front vents, and they’re not separately controlled. Even worse, the third row has no climate control - just a fan with its own control, which can be helpful in the summer but completely useless in the winter.
