Nice ride, clean display, messy interface, more EV distance needed.

Our Tucson PHEV rides nice and is fun to drive. It gets a reliable 40 mpg on the road. I like the clean low-slung dashboard (as opposed to an iPad-like center info screen). However, more default settings are needed on the controls so less button pushing is required each time setting off: 1) I would like the infotainment screen to default to my radio favorites, 2) I would like to default to "heat off" so that the engine does not start for short trips in coolish weather, 3) I would like to default to "Hybrid" when on road trips so to save my EV backup miles. More EV distance would be useful, say 44 miles instead of 34. The center console could be easier to clean (removable bottom to cup holder). My wife says it could be easier to enter the vehicle without bumping her head. Bright headlights seem just to make road signs glow brighter and not really change the pavement illumination. Hiding the oil fill cap seems disrespectful. Rear turn signals should be placed higher. Using a turbo and direct fuel injection makes me worried about future maintenance.

Styling and Car and Driver rating make this choice easy

The drive and acceleration are great! I’m still learning what this car can do. I have an Ioniq 5 and disappointed that the volume buttons and lift gate buttons are in different positions.

Ranges is meh

Mileage is lowwwwwwwww and with a brand new vehicle we’ve already had to take it in because we we’re having issues this is the second vehicle we got brand new from Hyundai that has had some issue we had to wait on parts to fix we will not be returning to Hyundai after this vehicle

New 2026 Tucson PEV Fails Less Than A Month After Purchase

2026 Tucson Plug In Hybrid – VIN =KM8JBDD26TU479003 -Purchase 7/04/2026 & Required Service on 7/22/2026. SERVICE - 7/23/2026 For Failed Infotainment Display Failure. As of 9/15 it's not fixed and there is no ETA as to when it will be fixed! The car has no backup camera, no radio, can not pair your cell phone, and can't change any configs. Last week I noticed the Blue Link App stopped interacting with the car. Cluster assembly (Part 94023 P0800). SERVICE – 8/22/2026 Install cluster assembly. Outcome – Still not fixed; another part ordered (Float Audio 96560-N9530-FLT) Part ETA 9/1 – in person inquiry. Part not in, ETA next Tuesday Latest Part ETA 9/8 – phone call inquiry. Failed to answer. - 9/9 Phone call inquiry. Failed to answer. Voice mail left; no call back . CURRENTLY NO ETA ON PART & REPAIR Case Opened with Hyundai Consumer Affairs 7/24 = case# 4315187

Best Car I've ever had

I love this vehicle. There are only a few things that bother me. Most importantly, the switch to go from Sport to Eco is in a bad spot and gets knocked accidentally all the time. I did not get a PHEV to waste gas or energy on Sport mode. This control needs to be relocated.

Good vehicle, but still wastes my time. Read the cons below.

The summary should allow for more characters than the title. Hyundai cares about *the vehicle* Huyndai’s *blind spot*: Hyundai does not care as much about *the customer experience with vehicle* Easy evidence: Hyundai’s survey … Hyundai’s survey is about THE VEHICLE. The vehicle is fine. Hyundai’s survey is NOT about the CUSTOMER’S EXPERIENCE. There is a dial that shows the gasoline engine. Sure. The indicator that shows how much gasoline is left should be under that dial, instead. The vehicle cannot be enjoyed because of THE INFORMATION that is provided by Hyundai. The information is in the manual, and the emails that lead to videos on the web. Problems with the information: 1) The information is not in good English; not descriptive enough; not clear – sometimes ambiguous. These problems do not exist in other foreign cars in the American market. Hyundai should learn to trust English speakers to write the manuals and the emails. Even features like keeping in the lane, it does not tell you that you have to switch mode so you can see them, the driver has to figure that out by experimenting – wasting their time. 2) The manual sometimes says that a feature is in one place, but it is actually in another place. Hyundai is the only car I have owned that came with a printed manual that had this kind of defect. 3) The manual, or other emails, often talk about a feature. Sometimes the feature is not included at all! Sometimes the Hyundai email adds, at the end: “if the feature is provided”. How is a customer to know if a feature is provided? Go and try each one? That’s what I have been doing – it is exasperating. I have spent many hours reading through the bad, ambiguous English to learn about features, and then to confirm that my car does not have them. Should I continue looking at them, or give up? 4) All this is unnecessary hassle for the buyer, because Hyundai knows exactly which car I bought. IF HYUNDAI TRIED, HYUNDAI WOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHICH FEATURES MY CAR HAS, AND WHICH IT DOES NOT HAVE. AND THEREFORE WOULD SEND ME ONLY THE EMAILS THAT APPLY TO ME, WITH ITEMS IN THEIR CORRECT PLACES. That is exasperating.
