Venue fulfills its purpose
2020 Venue SE with a 6-spd manual. In over 1,300 miles driving since I purchased it last month, I have averaged 40+ mpg during 50% rural/suburban; 35% highway; and 15% city driving. The Venue is an Accent with headroom. The interior is small but not cramped in part due to a non raked windshield, no center arm rest and generous headroom. The 6-spd manual is well-mated to the small 1.6L engine so you get relatively quick acceleration when needed. The quality of the interior materials cleverly ranges according to where they are likely to be viewed and touched and Hyundai instead wisely spent money on a large touchscreen, backup camera, steering wheel audio, dash and cruise controls, as well as less-known but more important features like multi-port injection added to direct injection (so gasoline lubricates the valves) and bonding agents attaching steel sections (adding strength and rigidity to the body). The Venue's small engine revs higher at highway speeds, so it's the right lane for you on interstates, and the SE's small wheels will keep you in last place at the Auto Cross. However, its safety ratings (crash worthiness), price, economy, practicability and ease to drive (also fun with the manual), make it a good selection for a subcompact CUV.
