Best car we've ever had in fifty years of owning cars
We currently own two other vehicles besides the 2010 Prius; a convertible Solara and a Tundra. The Solara is a fun car for nice weather. It is not practical for hauling little kids around in car seats. We need the Tundra for pulling a horse trailer and for yard debris and DIY home improvement projects. We have owned station wagons, SUVs, coupes, sedans, and other pickups over last fifty years.
Our Prius is the best, all-around car--ever. It seats five including two car seats. The solar panels keep our dogs ventilated and us too. The seats easily fold down to carry boxes or other supplies up to six feet long (five feet without poking into the front seats) without getting wet. Before, I would have to wrap cargo in a tarp to carry in the bed of the pickup. The ride is solid, and the car holds the road on windy I-205 bridge crossings. Visibility is good. Plenty of power for climbing hills, accelerating/merging onto freeways. Reliability is great. Then there's the fuel economy that makes stuck in traffic easier to bear; it isn't burning gasoline when idling. It's cute and practical.
No vehicle does everything. We don't expect the Prius to haul a horse around or seat six people. It's perfect for what it does day after day of errands and commuting and weekend jaunts to the beach.
