My 1991 Ford Explorer sounded like it needed a new Torque Convertor and possible Transmission overhaul with 260,000 miles on the Transmission. The rumble strip noise was found to be caused by a loose bolt on a flange at the rear Differential. The cost was negligible to repair, but some shops might have taken advantage of this and I never would have known the truth. Mechanical expertise was required to find the real problem. I'll be back with confidence - Many Thanks!
