My experience at Hoovers Automotive went like this. I have a son that’s a student at Texas A&M Commerce. His car stopped on him at the McDonald’s ( 0.7 ) miles away from Hoovers. I called Hoovers the next morning and told them what the car was doing and asked could they service it. I spoke with a guy name Jeff. Jeff stated it would be $129 for diagnostic and tow. I paid for that over the phone. 30 mins later , Jeff called me to advise me that they had sent a worker out to McDonald’s to jump start the car and did work , so I’d have to pay for a tow. Yes , that’s correct after he told me it was included in the $129. I used my roadside assistance and got the car towed to Hoovers. About 3 hours later , Jeff called me and stated they figured out what the problem was and the car needed a Starter. I asked if that was it , and he stated “ yes , but after we put the started on if we find anything else , I’ll call and let you know “. He told me the Starter and Labor would total $645. I thought that was kind of high , but my son needed his car the semester was ending in 2 days. I paid $300 for the Starter right then. Jeff stated I could pay the remaining $345 when he calls and tells me the car is ready. He told me the Starter was in a difficult place , so that’s why the labor was $345. 35 minutes later , Jeff called me and told me my son car was ready for pickup. YES , labor was $345 for 35 minutes. He also told me , nothing else seemed wrong with the car. Picked the car up , the next day my son leaves to come home and the car stopped again after driving about 12 miles down the road. I called Hoovers , they told me to have it towed back and what they did was next warranty. Mind you the car is doing the exact same thing from the first time they had. Jeff calls me a day later and tells me , the motor locked up , but they can’t understand how it locked up cause it’s oil in the car. Basically spent $800 for 12 miles. Jeff was rude , hind the phone up in my face and tried to say my son prob drives bad so the engine messed up. Very disrespectful! I wouldn’t , take a bicycle to this shop , let alone another vehicle. STAY AWAY , FAR AWAY !!!!!

Terrible Service
Son attended Texas A&M Commerce and car stopped on him at the McDonald’s , 0.7 miles away from Hoovers. I contacted Hoovers and asked if they could service his car. Spoke with Jeff. He originally told me the diagnostic and towing would be $129. I paid for that. Next , I got a call back saying they sent someone out to McDonald’s to jump start the car , but it didn’t start , so I’d have to pay for a tow. After being told it was apart of the $129 fee that was paid. I had my roadside assistance tow the car to Hoovers. Jeff called me , the next day and told me they figured out what was wrong with the car. He stated it needed a Starter. He also stated once the Starter is put on, he will call me , if they find anything else wrong. For Starter and Labor , they charged me $645 and your diagnostic fee doesn’t go towards your service , like most places in the DFW area. $300 for Starter and $345 for labor. Ok, I paid it , my son needed to get home since school was ending a couple days later.
Jeff told me the Starter was in a difficult place on the car so that’s why the labor was $345. About 45 mins after I paid , Jeff called me and said the car was ready.
$345 for 30-45 mins is some high labor !!!
I asked Jeff , did they get to the bottom of what was wrong with the car and he told me YES. A day later , my son packed his dorm room , was heading back home and got about 12 miles down the road and the car stopped on him again. Doing the same exact thing it didn’t the first time. So I got it towed back to Hoovers, as they requested. Jeff calls me a couple days later and said the motor locked up , but the can’t tell why the motor locked up cause they see oil in the car. So basically for 12-15 miles , I wasted $129 Diagnostic and $645 Starter and Labor 😡😡😡
Jeff started saying he didn’t know how bad my son drove the car once he picked it up. Insinuating , I guess my son drives rough or something which was very disrespectful to assume. Never offered any money back , actually hung the phone up on my face. I got proof too !! So I had to get the car towed from Commerce to DFW cause the customer service was TERRIBLE !!! I’d advise anyone to stay away from this place !!!
I wouldn’t go to this place EVER AGAIN !!!!

They will rob you
I took my car in for them to fix a leak they charged me 1700$ to replace a couple hoses and do a coolant flush and it is all ready running hot again because it is leaking somewhere... do not go here they overcharge you and can’t even fix it. Better off just watching YouTube and fixing it yourself. Good luck to any of you that use this place.

Update on previous review
Had the radiator flushed in previous review. Car had been running a notch over the normal temperature but I wasn’t concerned since they flushed radiator, replaced thermostat and thermostat sensor but yesterday the temp went to the red. Plenty of antifreeze but was super hot- took off radiator cap and antifreeze was filthy and the thermostat was stuck. Will find out today if they replaced thermostat. Hey Jaylen F in Klondike- have u gotten an attorney yet? I’m ready!!!!!

Taken to the Bank!!!
I took it in for brake failure- they tried several things and then replaced what they said it was after several hours of labor. Then they told me my radiator needed a flush and replace thermostat. Then they replaces oil and spark plugs. Then they said diagnostics said that the engine was misfiring on piston 2. Then they called to say engines problems so I told them to put it back together I was done! Almost $ 3000 dollars were the charges! Now I’m getting 15 miles to the gallon it use to be 20 miles to the gallon. Now my transmission whines and I get the slippery road light comes on and I can’t shift til I turn car off and back on-.they seemed like good guys but if I were you stay far far away!!!!! There are still good mechanics out there but not here-I’m devasted and I will NOT EVER GO BACK!!!!!!

Awesome people!
My husband and I were driving through the area on our way to Dallas from Tulsa when one of the guard plates on the bottom of my car came loose and started dragging the ground anytime the wind ripped through the undercarriage. Sadly, my Ford Escape needs a very specific size nut that isn’t normally kept around on hand. We pulled up to their shop 8 minutes before closing asking if there was anything they could do at all. The gentlemen there got her patched up as best as they could so we could at least make our trip and get home to our dealership. They were so exceedingly kind and generous. I only wish they lived near me! I can not reccomend them enough!

If zero was an option I’d use it.
If zero was an option I’d use it. I’ve never had trouble with them before now but this last experience will make me NEVER go back.
I paid almost $3,000 and was NEVER quoted for that price. They were late and kept telling me it would be done tomorrow. They acted like the work wouldn’t be a big deal and were NEVER up front with the final amount.
I am a college student in an impoverished town if you do work that will cost over $1,000 you NEED to let them know, much less almost $3,000.
I depleted my entire saving account over this crap! I am heartbroken and feel cheated and lied to. You broke my heart and changed my life for the worst Hoover’s.
NEVER COMING AGAIN!
After my husband looked at the “itemized” receipt he noticed there wasn’t a TRUE price breakdown just a list of parts and a final price so he did research. He looked on Autozone.com and found the highest price for each part and added a $10 profit and $500 for labor and it was almost less than half of what they charged us.
He went back in to get answers and they refused to breakdown their pricing for us and said they haven’t been charging less than $1,000 to crack open a hood, which was never said to us before.
They also replaced parts we did not approve or were informed about and when questioned about the charges said it was apart if their “package.” They never told us any of this before.
Needless to say they’re going to be contacted by a lawyer now.

Honest people
So this happened a couple months back and I promised them I’d leave a good review for them
A while ago we had a break job done and somehow a month later the caliper fell off and ruined the roter, I asked the man up front if they would pay for the tow since it was under warranty still and his response made me skeptical as it was “if it’s our fault we will”
I get the car towed up there and they gave it a look and held up their work and completely redid the brake job without any extra charge on top of the tow, I’m a firm believer in honest business and they were completely fair. This is my go to place for anything bigger than an oil change and I still go for that 80% of the time.
