Went in a Customer - Left like family
Referred by an employee from work. Left a voicemail on a Sunday night explaining how I was told I needed my water pump replaced immediately. Bill calls me the next morning and leaves me a detailed msg asking what the VIN # of my vehicle is and he’ll send me an estimate. I get the estimate via text as my prefer method of contact and was told the truck could be serviced immediately. I make the arrangements and the vehicle is dropped off on Wednesday morning. Bill tells me if all goes well I could have the truck back later that afternoon or if there are problems Thursday. Get a call later that afternoon with an update of some other on-going issues such as an oil pan leaking and a tensioner rubbing the engine. Mechanic states would not charge me the labor but for the parts. I knew there was an oil leak because I could clearly see it oil on the ground when I moved the vehicle & constantly had to add oil more often than usual. I could also smell this distinctive scent of coolant as the temp gauge would rise and basically tell me to turn the AC off or shut the engine off because the engine was hot . Another mechanic located in (Clinton NJ) told me it was my thermostat - he replaced it and again still that smell and still the oil drip. Recently. I took it to another shop (Oxford NJ) and was told my transmission needed to be rebuilt - which it probably did but no one addressed the smell I was smelling or cared abt the oil I was losing- paid the Mechanic in Oxford to get the transmission rebuilt. Guess what, I still smell that smell, truck is still getting hot and the oil is still dripping. Take the truck over to get an oil change and the tech says your water pump is cracked because I’m topping u off w coolant and it’s pouring thru but once the mechanic is done I’ll check your radiator. Mechanic does that & says you have “no water” or “ antifreeze in your coolant or radiator.” But I’ll set you up for success as he tops my vehicle off. He then proceeds to tell me not to drive the vehicle any longer than I have to and to get it to a mechanic. Well, I work at a medical facility and my co worker tells me about Keller’s Auto in Flemington. NJ even says a couple of Drs go to Keller’s Auto. My response was I don’t have Drs money. The coworker said Bill the mechanic is honest and then said Drs don’t like to spend money so you’re in good hands. We laugh but I was still doubtful abt another mechanic. But if the Drs go there -so should I. I acted upon it and gave Kellers Auto that distress voicemail late Sunday night. I have to say I went into this place as a customer and I left this place feeling like family. A smelled without telling him and also seen the oil was leaking. Right there I knew I was in good hands. Mechanics are like doctors - most are decent human beings with the best interest of their clients as doctors are to their patients. Most will get the job done right and will tell you things you don’t want to hear because sometimes just like sick patients there could be more things going on internally that you don’t see outside. So as in my case with my truck I was told a water pump but indeed there was also an oil leak and more things that needed to be addressed. Finally Bill the mechanic @Kellers Auto & Tire smelled the same things I did and notice the oil was dripping without me mentioning it The choice was mine and the price was reasonable and to get the vehicle back the same day was bonus. It was music to my ears as I was trying to hear anything negative abt my truck that may need repairs in the future - a sway bar was mentioned but I was told there’s no sense of urgency. They also mentioned all the positive things abt my truck such as, my tires are really good & the truck is solid. A shout out to Lenny for his great sense of humor & Rick for being a great helping hand. Keller’s Auto & Tire Repair you earned my business - tell a friend if you read this - I just did.
