Terrible experience at Jock’s Exxon, and I would not recommend this place.
I booked my appointment through my warranty company, Endurance, because Jock’s Exxon is listed as a participating repair facility. My understanding was that the shop would contact Endurance to open a claim before moving forward with covered repairs.
Max told me he attempted to call Endurance multiple times but was placed on hold. I contacted Endurance myself and verified on three separate occasions that, according to them, there was no record of him ever attempting to open a claim for my vehicle.
Max was also extremely unprofessional about the warranty and told me I should never purchase one because warranty companies are “scammers.” Based on the way the situation was handled, it seemed to me that he simply did not want to deal with the warranty company and would have rather swiped my credit card because it was more convenient for him. That was my impression, especially since no claim was ever opened despite the appointment being booked specifically through Endurance.
Since no claim was opened, nothing could be considered for coverage, so I declined the repairs he estimated.
After my car had been there for four days, I went to pick it up and was charged $285 just for diagnosing the check-engine-light issue. I was told the charge represented roughly an hour of labor, but from my perspective, the diagnostic work appeared to amount to a relatively quick test. I am not a mechanic, but nearly $300 simply to identify the issue felt excessive, especially considering no warranty claim was ever opened and no repair work was performed.
Between the communication issues, the handling of the warranty claim, the unprofessional comments, and the diagnostic charge, this was an extremely frustrating experience and a complete waste of my time and money. I would not bring my vehicle back here
