Solid Economic Vehicle
This 2008 civic lx has treated me well overall for the money. I bought this car as a college student and still use it for my long daily commutes. I haven't had any big issues with this car other than a few things I will discuss. One issue would be driving this car in the rain. When driving the car in the rain, I have had moments where I did not feel safe. I would have to drive significantly slower due to the fear of slipping and sliding. Yes, I have factored in the type of tires that I have purchased as well, but even when buying higher quality tires to have better grip, I still would feel my car sliding while driving on wet conditions. Another issue I did have was that one of the motor mounts had cracked. When taking it into the mechanic, there were no signs that I had gotten into an accident or any big incident that could have caused the motor mount to crack. My mechanic just believed that it could have been just a faulty part. Lastly, I have noticed that cars are being made now with cheaper and lighter parts. My front bumper had hit the front of the parking stopper and few of the brackets inside came undone. It was an easy fix, but when installing it, it was clear that a small bump can easily break the bumper off.
Going into 7 years with about 150,000 miles on it, the car overall is doing great. Now with that being said, I do maintain my car regularly which includes tune-ups and replacing shocks, tires, and such. The wear and tear did not officially start kicking in until around the 5 year mark. My audio system is still working well. The ac/heater system is doing great.
