BEWARE: DO NOT PURCHASE A HYUNDAI UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
Our Hyundai 2024 IONIQ 5 battery failed catastrophically - we were stuck in freezing cold temperatures with a dead battery. Had to get a jump from a tow truck and be towed an hour away to this dealership. We had to wait over a week to get the car even looked at. So we had to rent a car from the dealership at the cost of $50/day. Finally after 8 days at the dealership parking lot, they tested the battery and said it "had no error codes". It was simply a "frozen battery".
Hyundai USA refused to replace our battery even though it was still under warranty. I spent hours on the phone with Hyundai USA customer service, then finally the supervisor called me back after almost 2 weeks. She said 'Only the dealership can authorize a new battery:" Classic run around. We had the battery replaced at the dealership to the tune of $300 before we felt confident to drive the car again. They would not reimburse us for either the battery or the rental car. $600 later out of pocket we are extremely unhappy owners of a Hyundai. We have owned electric cars for 10 years and this is our first Hyundai and it will be our last. The dealership service manager was nice and said he would try to address this issue with his Hyundai rep. If they come through for us I will update this review.
