No pride in work and awful turnaround
Service department is an absolute JOKE. Recent snow storms left me with damage to my vehicle, and my first mistake was thinking I was doing the right thing by having work done on my 2023 Kona directly at the dealership. We dropped the car off on a Thursday to see exactly what needed to be fixed. Days go by, a week goes by and no one has even LOOKED at the car yet. It’s just been sitting for over a week. And you can absolutely FORGET getting an sort of update. Even the wild goose chase of phone calls you’ll make will lead you nowhere. When I finally do get ahold my advisor I’m told they haven’t looked at the car yet and, “it could be a situation where we get the car up there and there’s no issue at all”. Why would you even have my car right now if there’s no issue?? After getting ahold of the service manager, we’re told a completely different story that they looked at the car the day after they got it, and we’re waiting to hear if we were going through insurance or not to proceed. No one ONCE asked us this nor told us it was the reason for the hold up until going up the chain of command. Two weeks later after running “diagnostic” and $1300 my tire rod is replaced and I can finally pick the car up. When I get there I ask if I can take the car around the parking lot before paying to make sure it’s driving correctly. They then look at me like I have 3 heads and say “no one’s ever asked me that,” $1300 and I’m not supposed to make sure it drives first? In the lap around the parking lot everything seems fine until it starts making a noise a couple days later. I drop the car off to them AGAIN and they have it about 3 hours and can’t hear any noise, so I need to make a 3rd appointment to come back and ride with the technician. The day I originally tried to bring the car back for the 3rd time I called 5 separate times trying to see if the technician was in, and left a voicemail for my advisor and never once got a call back. One of those 5 calls I somehow got put through to sales, who tell me if the cars making a noise i should just trade it in! My year 1 old vehicle I should trade in because it’s making a noise. The following day I finally get ahold of someone and the technician hears the noise now at my 3rd appointment, so I need to bring it in for a 4th appointment so they can see why it’s making the grinding noise. I made the appointment for 8 AM, get a text confirmation for my 8:40 AM Appointment, but neither detail matters because they didn’t look at it until noon. Once again I go through my day of the goose chase trying to get any update, and finally get one at 4:30 pm. And SURPRISE they missed the first time they had the car for 2 weeks that additionally my wheel is bent, and I need new wheel bearings. They confidently let me leave the dealership like that and drive that vehicle for weeks at this point. Despite supposedly running diagnostic the first time. This slipped past them because “you can’t tell it’s bent just looking at it, it’s once you get the wheel off” I ask how the replaced my tire rod without taking the wheel off, “oh no we took it off”. So that’ll just be $2500 more for the wheel, and they aren’t sure if that’s the ONLY reason the cars making a noise, once we fix this we may find even more issues. They have no pride in their work, no timeline for completion on anything, and you may or may not leave with a safe operating vehicle.
