A Wonderful Car

The 2002 Acura RSX Type-S is an all-around great car. It’s fun to drive, with great handling on windy mountain roads, and great power, especially at high RPMs. This car is reliable and very well built; the overall quality is excellent. I have over 200,000 miles on my car, with very few problems. The RSX Type-S comes with a six speed manual transmission. Before this car, I had a base model Acura RSX with a five speed manual. They are both great cars, and with either engine, I would specifically recommend the manual transmission. Both the 160 hp four-cylinder engine in the base model and the retuned 200 hp four-cylinder in the Type-S are high revving engines, and they need a manual transmission to properly manage engine RPM for best performance. The VTEC engine has a wide power band, with good power as low as 2,500 RPM, and peak power output (in Type-S) at over 6,000 RPM. It doesn’t have all of the modern “driver assist” gimmicks, but I like it that way. If you know how to drive, then once you get used to the car, it’s like putting on a glove; the car is like an extension of your body. I highly recommend the RSX for driving enthusiasts.

Fun, fun,fun.

2002 Acura RSX Type S Best car I’ve ever owned. Lots of fun in a small package. Only 200hp but that’s pretty good for only 122 cubic inches in a normally aspirated engine. When the higher valve lift comes in at exactly 6000 rpm the engine really sings up to its 7800rpm redline. I’ve always appreciated the lift back design. It looks stylish and is very versatile. I’ve hauled 8 foot lumber 6x6 and many 2x4s no problem. I even hauled a water heater from Home Depot. Performance and great looks. What more do you need? The only downside is it’s not rear wheel drive like its predecessor the Integra.

Very economical

This car just doesn't quit. It will quit on you every once in a while, but as long as the preventive and routine maintenance is done it will keep going. Great gas mileage even when pushing 70 mph with the cruise control.

After receiving my car from transmatic transmission shop I am beyond grateful and content with my car. She rides so smooth and all my gears feel clean and responsive. Everything is on point. They did an amazing job!

Type S just keeps going

I have had a few issues with different sensors over the years. Other than that it runs like the day I bought it. Averaged 33 mpg on my last tank or gas. Keep up with maintenance and this car will deliver for you.

Quick and easy car !!

This is car is zippy as fuck and all the problems are fairly easy to fix if you just send it and take it apart. Perfect car for 16 yr old boy. It’s fun to spin the wheels on it because front wheel drive

Lowest Maintenance Ever!

I was told when I first got my car that it would be the lowest cost car I'd ever own. They were RIGHT! I love my RSX Type S and wouldn't trade it in for the world; until I get my Tesla Model 3 lol But really, I've enjoyed driving this car from the show floor to the grave.
