Wonderful car that misses the mark under scrutiny

Overall, I really do enjoy my Ioniq 6 Limited. At a glance, the car checks virtually every box on my wishlist of features and exceeds my expectations. Unfortunately under further investigation – particularly of the infotainment/UX – it disappoints in as many ways as it wows. I feel like I'm barred from so many features due to a seemingly limitless amount of windows/taps. Outside of the limited options for HVAC on the dedicated strip below the screen, simple changes to settings require at a minimum two taps on the screen – three if you count the initial swipe over from "home." Need to toggle battery conditioning mode? That's five taps. These are just a couple examples of what should be incredibly simple things that should be effortless to change in the vehicle that are lost in what feels like a labyrinth of menu options. On top of the UX/infotainment, the way the cruise control and driver assist features are "married" together is perplexing. Why is it that when I turn on cruise control I always have lane keep activated? Furthermore, if I pause cruise control, I need to separately disengage from the driver assist features. These have dedicated buttons on the steering wheel and yet I don't have an option to trigger them independently when starting from cruise. Again, these are just a couple examples of how "half-baked" the human interface is with key functions of the car. It feels careless for the end user when so many options/settings/functions aren't thought all the way through! Absolutely adore the charging infrastructure, but the battery conditioning really should be available OUTSIDE of setting a charger destination in the (frustratingly archaic) native map functions.

Great vehicle to drive

This is my first EV. I've been very impressed. Driving it is a lot of fun - the acceleration is extremely fast and buttery-smooth. The center console is great too - large and easy to read, modern-looking (unlike a couple other EVs that I test-drove), and full of functionality. I've had it for just over a year and I haven't had any quality-related issues or maintenance issues, aside from a minor recall on a door panel latch.

Don’t by this car

Already after a year the main batteries have failed so since I have light colors I am currently unemployed and do not know how to earn money to continue paying off the car or to feed my family the track we have half with it not a little further it is just terrible.

Not sure how to feel.

I enjoy the vehicle, I truly do. This thing is fast and feels futuristic. But, the price I paid for it is pretty awful, considering that now they have discontinued the model. The price for parts will be going through the roof now.

A very good car, could use some improvement, and one very big problem.

The car, as a car, is a very good car with the sportiness of an EV. It drives very well, handles well, and feels solid. The Smart Cruise Control is very good and very helpful. However, I feel it could use some improvements. Don't bother with the frunk; it's too small for anything, do something else with it. There're no leaks into the cabin, but rain does leak into the door and trunk sills. And in the summer bugs can get into the cabin, I've had mosquitoes and even a bee. I keep the car clean and I don't drive that often and I'm in NYC. The sideview mirror cameras can get dirty in the rain, and the rear camera is terrible in/after the rain. I know you can't have all digital side view mirrors in the US but you should but the digital turn signals appear in the area where they physically are in other countries as I can't always see them where they are currently. And they should be standard on all trims. I know that people think EVs are loud when it's more that the engine noise isn't there, but I do find it loud at highway speeds. And the headlights switch too easily switches out of Auto. I believe the software for my 2025 Ioniq 6 is ccNC, and I believe a 2025 Ioniq 5 has more modern software. I find it a bit frustrating to not have the most recent software, but more than this, there are features that I would really like to have. The EV range, which takes into account hills, for one. Being able to indicate the battery % I'd like to be at when I arrive, is another. But some Battery Conditioning are really needed. When Battery Conditioning works it's fantastic. But there are a few problems. If I drive to charge at a High Speed Charger and Battery Conditioning engages but all the chargers are filled and I have to wait Battery Conditioning turns off when I arrive and if it's cold out I loose any advantage of Battery Conditioning. So being able to toggle it on and off would be helpful, maybe even necessary. Also, especially if I can't toggle Battery Conditioning on I feel it should engage if I plot a High Speed Charger as my Destination, not only when I plot it as a stop on my way to another destination. Also, I really wish you could make the car more efficient in cold weather. I can't charge at home and most of my driving is highway, and my milage is terrible in the cold. And I love the idea of going keyless, but when I use my phone as a key the car sometimes starts, and sometimes not. And the idea of driving somewhere with only my phone, only to not be able to start the car and come home terrifies me, and makes me ask what the point of this feature is? Now, I have considered that I might have to use the Digital Key Card in a similar way to when I pay for things with my phone, but I've watched all your YouTube videos on this and I don't see anything about this. And finally, my very big problem. The ICCU. Now I haven't had the ICCU fail on me, but I am terrified of this happening. As I mentioned I mostly drive on the highway and I can't imagine how scary this failing while I'm driving on the highway would be. And while I've checked my VIN my mom's cousin has an Ioniq 6 and I checked their VIN and it was clear, but their ICCU failed. Terrifying. Thank you

It gets you from A to B, but that's bout it

- The car is on the ugly side. No idea what it's trying to be. Looks like Hyundai was trying copy elements from a Beetle and a Porsche but failed miserably. - Weird curves and shapes all around the car. - Interior space is very good, especially the rear leg room. But the trunk is not tall for a sedan. - For a car close to 50k, you'd expect nicer materials rather than plastic all around. Most interior materials are fingerprint magnets. - The sensors go nuts all the time. It would go ofd when you're waiting on a red light for no reason.

Fun to drive, quick off the line, but has its quirks.

Throttle is very responsive especially up hill seeing as you do not need to wait for a transmission to pick a gear. The car is fun to drive as it is quick off the line. The stock tires received great reviews for EV tires however I find the traction to be lacking in rain and snow. I need to be cautious driving in rain and snow as the back end will tend to break out when cornering and not driving aggressively. The car is just over a year old and only has 7,000 miles tire tread is not the issue. Another quirk I was driving home from work and I started getting warning messages that the camera safety system could not see and was shutting down the forward collision safety system. I kept getting these warnings and I was acknowledging them for about 10 minutes. Shortly after that the system reset its self and the safety system was again working. I also received messages when starting the car in the morning in the garage that the battery was being depleted by an external source when nothing was plugged into the car. This goes away after 15-20 seconds and everything is normal. Having the window switches in the center counsel and not on the door is still something I am not use to. Lastly and goes for all EVs is the battery loses considerable range in the cold. If you are going on a road trip in the winter plan charging stops every 150 miles or so especially if you are using climate control, heated seats, heated steering wheel. I enjoy the car and I do not think I would go back to a gas powered car even with the quirks that will be worked out over time. EVs are so much more fun to drive.

I love everything but the tires.

I love this car. It is fun to drive, feels safe, and is very roomy. It's very comfortable and handles well. It's my first EV and won't be my last. I did have an issue with the special EV tires and switched them to regular tires after two of them failed in the first few months of ownership, which made me feel unsafe. There is no spare tire. Since I put regular tires on it, I have had no issues with the tires. I had a number of terrible experiences at the dealership I went to and will never go back there - in Fishkill NY.

Troubles with ICCU System & A Number of Other Issues

There are several problems with my new car. The ICCU system worked properly is the biggest, and now it has failed and in the shop for an extend d time. It’s been upwards of a week and i get no loner car. Other issues are the backup camera is not functional at night due to tail light glare. I put a shade (a small piece of plastic) to reduce glare and it helped a lot. I am also having issues with the rear seat belts, they alarm and have to be buckled even when no one is in the rear seat. Lastly Hyundai sold me this vehicle with the ICCU recall, which i have recently learned its a known issue and the recall did not fix the problem.

Upper scale meets average performance

Coming from the ioniq 5 to the 6, I expected a bit more of an upgrade in terms of performance, features and quality but feel that the bar was missed. The interior quality seems much cheaper and like being in a solid shell with plastic parts aching and flexing around. Still no wireless CarPlay despite the hotspot feature being enabled. I was fortunate to be one of the Ioniq 5 first owners when it was announced and came out and you can noticed the difference in what Hyundai decided to cut cost on.
