Ioniq 6 Mostly Recommended

I was glad to have an option for an affordable electric sedan. It's a shame that no non-N models will be available in this country anymore. For now, please continue support with more updates for Gen5W, and please solve the ICCU issue.

First electric car for a very tall driver

I am very happy with my Ioniq 6 SEL. I purchased it at my daily commuter about 1 year ago and I am extremely satisfied. My commute is about an hour each way and I'm saving a fortune on gas. Also, no oil changes and the brakes will last forever due to the regenerative breaking. I love the instant acceleration. It is absolutely a safety feature to be able to accelerate effortlessly when merging, passing, or turning across traffic. I am exceptionally tall (6'9") and have a tough time finding vehicles that fit me. The leg room in the 6 is exceptional. The head room is adequate. But I could not get the limited because the sun roof drops the top of the car just a little too much for me to still fit. And I can't ride in the backseat due to insufficient headroom. If you need more headroom, the Ioniq 5 has more. I just liked the styling of the 6 better. Hyundai was offering a deal of a free home level 2 charger or $500 credit at a Charge Point. I took the credit because to get the charger you need to use their installers who wanted to charge me $1000 just to plug it in. I'm very happy with my purchase and would certainly buy it again. Or maybe I would buy the 5 so that I can upgrade to limited and get that sweet sweet ventilated seat.

Looks good, drives smoothly; software/features are a generation behind

It's a good looking car, and it runs fine, but compared to other electric vehicles the software is a joke and the app integration is horrible. Like 10 years behind the market share's leader.

Amazing Car

For me, it’s an amazing vehicle. I use for my personal use with very few of mileage, so I am okay with the electric car, but it does not give the mileage as it is promised, and I do see some issues with the charging as well. Otherwise the car is amazing style, build comfort. Everything is amazing. Exterior is amazing.

12 volt battery failed

At 12K miles and 12 months into my lease, the 12v battery died and AAA could not jump it. My dealer refused to reimburse me because they didn't swap it out... which would have required me to have the car towed to the dealership.

Could have done better!

The much needed performance specially when it comes to handling for an EV does NOT match the rated safety nor lives up to the shape size & looks which are great! Secondly, the computing interface is not at par compared to other tech driven vehicles in the market. Lastly the interior plasticy dash & doors could have a better soft touch feeling.

Very good, has room for improvement

Overall a good car. The biggest detractions for me are a larger than expected turning radius, the paint doesn't seem to be the most robust, and I wish the car was better integrated with CarPlay apps, such as battery preconditioning working with other mapping software (or even having a manual preconditioning), having navigation appear in the HUD for carplay nav, etc.

I REALLY like the car, but one thing bugs me!

I've been leasing my Ioniq 6 since May 2025 and I really like the vehicle. It has a great ride, quick to super-quick acceleration, near-luxury car comfort, and more rear legroom than I've seen in the largest Euro, Japanese or American luxury cars. However, it's the PURPORTED driving range of the vehicle that is irritating. It is a dynamic number, based on your most recent driving habits; thus, it's ACTUAL range is unpredictable over about 210 miles. And if you throw "real world" driving (i.e. HILLS, passing, use of the A/C, etc.) that ACTUAL range becomes real guesswork on a long trip. I've taken it between SOCAL and Las Vegas several times, and even though the trip is 240 miles, I can't make it on a single...even though my average speed is about 75MPH. If Hyundai could fix this issue, AND cover my battery and TOTAL DRIVETRAIN for 100K, I'd have no problem keeping this one or leasing another one (if the price was right).

A Great All Around Car

This car has been a joy to own. It costs me less than $2.00 to charge at home to add 150 miles of driving range. The car feels sporty to drive, even in eco mode which is what I drive in over 99% of the time. The interior is spacious enough to seat four 6’ adults rather comfortably. I have driven this car across the country twice. Charging the car at Electrify American rarely takes longer than 20 minutes. I usually charge up to 90%. On those trips I average between 3.5 to 4 miles/kwh. The air conditioning system works wonderfully. Even on the hottest of days here in the Midwest, I find myself having to turn the air down within 5 minutes after startup. That’s after the car has sat in the sunny driveway with highs in the upper 90’s. I find it amazing how well the ac system works. Overall, I would highly recommend this car. In my view the only con is the exterior styling as it looks too much like an egg. But it still has a sporty look so it’s all good.
