IONIQ 6 is Great but Compromised

The car has been fun to own and drive, but it is a product of its time and is not a car that I can recommend to everyone. There are a lot of features that are missing or incomplete compared to other brands. However, the core driving experience is really great and that is what makes the car worth keeping. If certain features were implemented into this car and the ICCU problem was definitively resolved, then this car would be a solid recommendation. I would not consider buying another Hyundai EV due to the large exterior changes made in the current generation lineup and the ongoing ICCU issue. I would also likely swap to another brand’s EV if my current IONIQ 6 became inoperable.

Practical and sensible.

I love the comfort and sensibility built into this car. The only negative is the infotainment system. It reflects technology of the 80’s. Not responsive and frankly dated.

Great car until it was totaled

This car was really terrific. Seats were a little narrow, but comfortable enough. I had the SEL trar wheel drive. Not the fastest ev off the line, but plenty fast. We had gotten into an accident in this car and it was totaled unfortunately.

it was literally a lemon

I loved it but your service people couldn’t keep it working, your hyundai kearny mesa location was particularly a nightmare to work with, and you eventually had to buy it back as a lemon. so it wasn’t a great experience, to put it mildly.

Love the car but it has its faults.

I love the instant torque of this car and the way it drives. It is comfortable and quiet, and looks great. The fact that this car has physical buttons is great from an ergonomic perspective. The route planning is many years behind the Tesla system, but it does have SiriusXM radio, which is a plus. It is efficient but not as efficient as a Tesla. The ICCU unit popped and took 2 weeks to get replaced. I was happy with the dealership, but what would have happened if I was out of state on vacation? This has been a known issue for years, and it does not seem to be fixed as of yet. The headlights are only marginal at best; a good matrix headlight should be standard on a car at this price point. Since the I6 has been discontinued in the USA, I hope the I5 picks up some of the I6's sophistication. The driving sensors have issues when sitting at stoplights; they keep sounding, telling me that there is a car in front of me, when that is obvious. The lane keep assist is also subpar, especially on country roads that are poorly snow plowed. So close but still needs some more work.

Fantastic Vehicle regardless of drive type, gas, hybrid or electric.

Trouble free driving experience. The Ioniq 6 is quick, fun to drive and handles as good as any of the BMW’s (4) or Mercedes (3) that we have owned. Plenty of people space and trunk storage for all our long trips. Charging is a snap (hyper-charges to 100% in 30 minutes or so) and price per mile is far better than conventional petroleum vehicles. We have had zero car related problems and Hyundai service has been fantastic. We love this car. And the car looks sporty and my wife says it’s sexy. We bought it with 600 miles in the odometer so it was basically new.

Good for what we use it for-- in town driving.

It was a pain to get everything set up when we leased it. Had to get electricians from another town, because no one was certified in our town. Chargepoint and Hyundai neither one knew how to get it set up. Finally has to get legal counsel to threaten legal action to help get it all worked out. Once made it through that phase it has been good for what we wanted, just a car for in town driving.
