A very good car, could use some improvement, and one very big problem.
The car, as a car, is a very good car with the sportiness of an EV. It drives very well, handles well, and feels solid. The Smart Cruise Control is very good and very helpful. However, I feel it could use some improvements.
Don't bother with the frunk; it's too small for anything, do something else with it. There're no leaks into the cabin, but rain does leak into the door and trunk sills. And in the summer bugs can get into the cabin, I've had mosquitoes and even a bee. I keep the car clean and I don't drive that often and I'm in NYC. The sideview mirror cameras can get dirty in the rain, and the rear camera is terrible in/after the rain. I know you can't have all digital side view mirrors in the US but you should but the digital turn signals appear in the area where they physically are in other countries as I can't always see them where they are currently. And they should be standard on all trims. I know that people think EVs are loud when it's more that the engine noise isn't there, but I do find it loud at highway speeds. And the headlights switch too easily switches out of Auto.
I believe the software for my 2025 Ioniq 6 is ccNC, and I believe a 2025 Ioniq 5 has more modern software. I find it a bit frustrating to not have the most recent software, but more than this, there are features that I would really like to have. The EV range, which takes into account hills, for one. Being able to indicate the battery % I'd like to be at when I arrive, is another. But some Battery Conditioning are really needed. When Battery Conditioning works it's fantastic. But there are a few problems. If I drive to charge at a High Speed Charger and Battery Conditioning engages but all the chargers are filled and I have to wait Battery Conditioning turns off when I arrive and if it's cold out I loose any advantage of Battery Conditioning. So being able to toggle it on and off would be helpful, maybe even necessary. Also, especially if I can't toggle Battery Conditioning on I feel it should engage if I plot a High Speed Charger as my Destination, not only when I plot it as a stop on my way to another destination. Also, I really wish you could make the car more efficient in cold weather. I can't charge at home and most of my driving is highway, and my milage is terrible in the cold. And I love the idea of going keyless, but when I use my phone as a key the car sometimes starts, and sometimes not. And the idea of driving somewhere with only my phone, only to not be able to start the car and come home terrifies me, and makes me ask what the point of this feature is? Now, I have considered that I might have to use the Digital Key Card in a similar way to when I pay for things with my phone, but I've watched all your YouTube videos on this and I don't see anything about this.
And finally, my very big problem. The ICCU. Now I haven't had the ICCU fail on me, but I am terrified of this happening. As I mentioned I mostly drive on the highway and I can't imagine how scary this failing while I'm driving on the highway would be. And while I've checked my VIN my mom's cousin has an Ioniq 6 and I checked their VIN and it was clear, but their ICCU failed. Terrifying.
