2019 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in
I specifically chose the 2019 Hyundai Sonata plug-in since I enjoyed our recently purchased 2019 Hyundai Ioniq plug-in, but we wanted a vehicle with a larger interior to fit two teenage boys in the back seats. Because of the change in the vehicle warranty for the 2020 model year, I went with a 2019 model so that I could get the lifetime warranty on the hybrid battery (I think they changed it to a 10 year / 100,000 mile warranty). We had purchased 2016 and 2017 Sonata hybrids and had really enjoyed both vehicles so we went with a similar vehicle and passed the older models down to our kids. We do not work far from home, and so the plug-in feature works really well for us, allowing us to drive to / from work each day and run simple errands without using any gas. I can usually go at least 1,000 miles between stops at the gas station, and can fill up for less than $25 (usually less than once a month). I can definitely afford that! While it is not the top-of-the-line Limited model, it still offers many useful features and is a pleasure to drive (and look at).
