After one year
I have had my Hyundai Tucson 2025 for a little bit over a year now. These are my main dislikes:
1) 12V seems to lose charge very quickly if the car is not driven regularly. This means I cannot use the key fob to open the car, not even by touching the door handle. The battery shuts itself down and you have to use the restart battery button inside the car to activate it. The app is useless to start the car remotely when this happens also. Very annoying in cold weather if you can't drive your car every day to keep the battery from doing this. You have to walk to the car and use the physical key to open it. I found out by accident that when this happens, I can open the trunk, this activates the console briefly so I can go to the driver door and open the door touching the door handle, then I can start the car. I think this is a hack not a feature of the vehicle as it is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. Terrible!
2) It does not come with a spare tire! This was not mentioned when I was looking at the vehicle to purchase it. The car comes with a "Tire mobility kit" which is basically a fix a flat. This is not a replacement for a spare tire. The tire mobility kit does not work in all flat tire situations, like if your tire is damaged on the side wall for example. This is an expense of about $500. Very dangerous not to have a spare tire in bad weather and especially when you found out until you get a flat tire and try to use the spare.
3) The phone button on the steering wheel is very inconveniently placed, unless your hands are strictly at 10 and 2 you will keep hitting this button constantly when you don't mean to. I figure this is worse with 9 and 3 hand positions which is now the recommended way of driving.
4) The audio controls are on the right-hand side of the steering wheel. I find this extremely inconvenient as I'm right-handed and this interferes with the maneuverability of the car. Maybe this is a personal preference, but it feels awkward to try to use audio controls to move forward/back in songs and to control the volume with the right hand while driving.
5) There doesn't seem to be a way to save the preferred driving mode (Eco, Sport, Snow). So, once you turn the car off it defaults back to Eco. You have to select your driving mode EVERY TIME you start the car if you want to change it to anything other than Eco. Unacceptable in a car with this much technology. You should be able to save your preferred driving mode.
6) The notifications in the app focus on trivial things like for example, constantly telling me that the washer fluid is low unless I refill it. By constantly I mean every 5 mins literally. It also tells me if the doors are unlocked, this is good. However, if I leave my door wide open for hours the app won't bother to let me know of this! not so good, in fact pretty bad!
