6 Cylinder 2 Wheel Drive All that is Needed

Bought this truck at great value because 6 cylinder, 2 wheel drive trucks are not fashionable. Now I find they are discontinued fare. This is foolish, as when travel is bad due to inclement weather, no truck is going to perform, as there is not enough weight over the rear wheels for traction.

GMC Trucks made for the long haul.

My 2009 GMC Sierra is turning 350,000 with no sign of stopping. I have the V-6 and wasn't sure if it would do well for high mileage, but it has done spectacularly well ready to exceed 400,000 miles soon.

Best M/V negotiation I ever made.

I am one of a handful of people who wanted a 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive truck for the best mileage I could get. Everyone wants 4 wheel drive even though you get no traction in bad weather, with either 4 or 2 wheel drive. Since no one wanted this vehicle I negotiated the best deal of my life for a beautiful truck.

Dependable truck

For a sierra 1500 crew cab, it's very comfortable riding and to drive on long trips, very pleased with its performance and room in cab plenty of leg room in back seats and I'm 6' rides smooth for big truck

Rusty but trusty

Body is falling apart but it runs like a clock. Engine runs great. Four wheel drive works awesome. Interior is nice too except the drivers seat is torn and the foam is coming apart. I don't recommend this body style if you live where they salt the roads though!

Reliable Vehicle 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive.

I am one of the few people who find a 6 cylinder 2 wheel drive truck sufficient for daily use. Reliability, efficiency, and gas mileage are important to me. Performance in winter snow and ice is not good in any truck 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Why not operate the most economical of the type?

Don't recommend

Since I bought this truck 1 1/2 years ago, I've had nothing but issues. Truck just at 92K miles, and have replaced fouled spark plugs 2 times, value covers, throttle control other engine parts. Extremely disappointed with this GM truck, wish I had never purchased.

bought used with 75K

the fuel management system leaked oil into the plugs - needed new motor - paint is bubbling off. Sensors that have 10 year limit are going which nickel and dime ( I know ) as a used vehicle the price exceeds its worth - the repairs add up quickly.

Things i think should be recalled

The dash on these pickups crack frequently and I feel should be recalled plastic parts on the exterior crack and break and fall completely off I have been told that these parts are not recalled Exterior door handles are peeling and have sharp edges that WILL cut you.

Engine issues

The fuel efficiency system is not that well. Had oil push through the cylinder rings and needed a new motor -after all the time it spent in the shop with the possible fixes GM recommended and didn’t work.

Nightmare

The flex fuel system is poor, needed a new motor after 90k miles. Parts of the truck continue to slowly fail-especially previously recalled issues like fuel management control sensor. So nickel and dollared to death.

Ok truck.

I’ve owned this vechicle since new. It now has 150000 miles on it. In the last 150000 miles the transmission went bad. The water pump failed. I’ve replaced the ball joints 2 times. Replaced the upper control arms twice. I’ve had rot replaced over both rear wheel wells. Had a hole in the frame at the muffler mount repaired. Replaced the brakes twice. Tranny lines weep. Engine uses about a guart of oil a month. I want a vechicle that’s not make of foil and cheap parts. Bring back the heavy duty trucks that get 8 miles a gallon.

Great pick up truck

This is a great truck! It has 67,000 miles with zero problem. I use this truck daily towing a 20' trailer or my 48' trailer. The truck has power to spare!
