Great vehicle with exceptions
We had a BMW X5 for Many years and when upgrading we were attracted to the GV80. Better value overall than a nee BMW which was $15k more, equipped the same as the prestige 3.5 based on comfort and safety features and interior styling. The GV gets complements wherever we go and you don't see yourself coming and going like the X5. The overall driving experience is excellent. Where they could do a better job:
1) dealer experience....sharing a space with Hyundai does not make for a luxury buying or service experience. They need exclusive space like Lexus and Infiniti did to make the experience worth the price..
2) engine refinement just isn't there yet....runs smoothly and plenty of power just doesn't sound refined when accelerating. The fake electric motor sound is a joke.
3) 22 inch wheels look great but they ride too harshly for a luxury vehicle. You feel every bump and road irregularity. The lower line of GV80 uses smaller diameter and rides significantly better. My x5 was on 19inch and road smooth as silk.
4) while we didnt purchase it for great MPG they need a hybrid offering to get miles up into high 20's.
5) lastly, no spare, no run-flats means waiting for road service 60-90 minutes for a flat tire and then forced to buy a tire which arent always in-stock.
