Great car with a couple of missteps

My wife and I recently purchased a 2018 Hyundai Kona Ultimate. It's a great car with fantastic features. The Heads Up Display needs to be a standard feature in all cars, it's that awesome! We knew what kind of car we were getting into when we bought it, so we weren't looking for a performance vehicle, although the turbo is a nice feature. We weren't looking for a lot of space, but this vehicle seems to have what we need. It does seem to have some quirks, though. The carpet inside feels like cheap trunk liner. Very disappointing for an almost $30k vehicle. Also, the turbo is a bit touchy. Maybe it's just us not being used to it. Not sure. The biggest disappointment is the fact that the FCA (Forward Collision Avoidance) system seems to be DOA. This is actually a common complaint. There is no response at all from the vehicle when coming close to objects. We're hoping Hyundai engineers will reach out to us and determine what is wrong. Overall, it's a great car, just needs a little smoothing out!

Love this vehucle

Love this car so far. Only had it for a month I have had no problems with it. Gets good gas mileage for around town driving. Haven't been on Highway yet. I don't do much highway driving. Sound system and phone system is good. Like it when it tells you , you have a text and tells the person you are driving. Think that was good idea

Love!

I love this car, it’s so easy to drive and it’s very solid. Has some road noise but can be taken out with music. Has a good sun roof and Bluetooth is amazing as well as the sound clarity. It’s super easy to steer

Loving it!

I'm a new Kona owner. I love the solid feel and comfort of this car. The features seem luxurious and fun. I love the sporty look of the car. I look forward to getting to know this car better as I drive it more and become more familiar with the great features.

Amazing Kona

Excelent value for the money. Fun to drive from test drive. So many features. I love use my android auto app in my kona. The performance, comfort, exterior and interior design are just Amazing buy... definitely an Amazing Kona.

Pleasant Surprise

Was a dedicated Subaru owner. But after not seeing the same quality in the new models as the one I currently had and being treated very badly at the local dealer I decided to shop around. My son noticed the local Hyundai dealer had a couple Kona's and suggested we check them out as he had seen good comments on this vehicle. Slightly smaller car than I was planning on as far as cargo space but it was love at first sight. After test driving I did leave to contemplate the decision. My son and his SO both wanted to test drive on our return and both loved the handling. The dealership was great. Very respectful and helpful. The car is very solid. More like my old Subaru. Was concerned as I had a 90 minute drive home in the dark after the deal closed. But was VERY surprised at the nighttime driving. Extremely good visibility and handling on the mountain curves. Was the BEST night drive I have ever had. Have been glad to tell people who comment on the looks of the car as to what it is and where the dealership is. Also great product for the price. VERY happy with this choice!

Love my new Kona, everything about it suits me. :) It is a great commute vehicle, comfortable to drive, has great features and was reasonably priced. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've owned Hyundai vehicles before, but the Kona is my favorite.

Best car

Not only is the appearance the cutest car around, but so quiet, comfortable, great gas mileage. I love the dark roof - everyone thinks it is a solid sun roof, but it is just the color of it. I cannot say enough about my Kona - I love it!

incredible gas mileage

We love our new Kona. We expected to get good gas mileage but we are getting better than the owners manual says! It is zippy and fun! Our kids love driving it as well. We didn't expect to driving home with a Kona that day! We are delighted that we did!

Love My Kona

I used to drive a Toyota Venza. Now I drive a Hyundai Kona and I love it. The car is perfect for my daily commute and weekend trips to the lake. It’s fun to drive and crazy comfortable. I’m 6’3 and do not feel cramped. The Tech in my Kona is top notch. Integration with my iPhone is seemless. I could not be more impressed with this Korean jewel.

Love it !!!

I went to the dealership just to look, I had never heard of the Kona before. The minute I saw it I knew I wanted it without even driving it... It is a sharp looking car at a great price. I have had several vehicles in my life and this is by far my favorite so far....

Best vehicle on the road right now

Best vehicle on the road. Everything is great from the outside to the inside - very well made. Engine delivers high performance and great gas mileage . The sport mode allows you to accelerate quickly and the handling on winding roads is superb. Love it!

Right car for me

I looked long and hard on line and checked out other options, but chose the Kona for size, quick response, safety features, comfort, style. Very pleased so far, but it's brand new to me, so I haven't had a chance to really form concrete opinions.. One downside is the lack of front camera braking safety feature. I insisted I wanted this and thought this was understood at the time of sale. Disappointed to learn it was not on car. Dealership slip up. Also, I wish Hyundai would make rear door automatically close on their vehicles. Seems an awkward omission. All else just great. Will enjoy driving this car.

I think I made a smart choice when it came to everything that I wanted all the features that came with that model especially the 1.6 turbo it definitely has some get up and go I absolutely love it alot

Final Hyundai

I have been driving Hyundai vehicles since 2004. My initial goal was to lease each car Hyundai provided at least once. After reading about the Kona in 2017 I knew it was the next car I wanted to try. After having the car for one month I believe I’m never going to try another Hyundai again, as the Kona is the Hyundai for me! It’s higher up than a standard car, which gives me the safety I like to feel, but it’s not so big and bulky as a standard SUV. As a crossover vehicle for someone who lives in an urban setting, it’s perfect. Interior features for media give me everything I need. 8 inch color display is easy to see in the peripheral while driving, speech to text to engage CarPlay is quick and easy. I’m able to stay in touch, without compromising safety.

All in one Kona

Hyundai Kona is sporty and fun to drive while being sassy and utilitarian at the same time. The interior stylings are high end and the safety and comfort are unsurpassed in its class. The warranty sealed the deal. Fun, fair and safe. What else would you want?
