Kona

I have had several Hyundais and this is my favorite. I love the fact that it is all wheel drive. It is a nice looking vehicle with plenty of room inside. I would recommend this vehicle to everyone. It is a great vehicle.

Nice driving crossover? SEL AWD

Very nice vehicle for the price. Only bad thing is plastic inside car marks very easy seems cheap. The car rides nice gets good fuel economy. I was kinda surprised that trunk says 150lb weight limit. Ours has some kind of noise drivers side near door sounds like something metal sliding around inside door or door frame underside

2018 Hyundai Kona

I really enjoy driving this vehicle. It is comfortable, gets great gas mileage and is a convenient size vehicle. Really my only complaint is that the metal and paint quality on the body doesn’t seem to be very good. Unfortunately a few door dings have happened and the paint chips extremely easily and the metal will dent slightly even if it was not hit with great force.

“Chunky Funky Spunky”

I liked one reviewer’s description of the new Kona (chunky funky spunky). I’m single and wanted a smaller SUV after driving a Subaru Forester for 15 years. Bought the Kona new a year ago (after test driving, liked it better than the Subaru Crosstrek) and am happy with that decision. Overall fun to drive, comfortable, handles well in snow. Got 4WD but haven’t tested it much. Clearance is low compared to Forester. Tech upgrade was worth it. Wish it got better gas mileage (currently 17mpg average around town). Plenty of interior legroom front and back. Love the houndstooth seat covers. Cargo space adequate with seats down. Love my Konacar!

Kona¹

I like my Kona. I wish it had a bit more of a pick up to it though. The truck us pretty small, I would prefer it to be a little bit bigger though. I had no problem driving in the snow this past winter. I like my little car and it is a good looking vehicle.

My name is Hector Hernandez and have been working in the automotive industry for more than 7 years, in analysis areas, quality and new launches... Having said so, this is my review. I have to say that Hyundai have met my expectations, so far my Kona has 5000 miles and only found 3 issues: 1) In the setup of temperature unit display, I always select Celcius instead of Farenheith, but for some reason after some start ups, the temperature unit always changes to Farenheith, this is a bug in the system which is annoying. 2) The screws that holds the entrance to the gas tank where the hose is inserted looks very cheap screws (home made) and not harmonic to the rest of the assembly. 3) The "manual shift" option available in the automatic transmision is not what I would expect, is very limited the interaction, I cannot go further than 1 shift up or down than my current shift. i.e: If I am driving in 4th shift I only can select either 5th or 3rd shift unless I increase or decrease the speed... Without be offensive but being objective, the VW triptronic is capable to do what I try to do in the Hyundai transmission. In general I am happy with the vehicle but would like to have a fix in the bug of the temperature unit issue. Thank you!

My Hyundai

I am mostly pleased with the purchase of my Kona vehicle . I most pleased with the engine performance and gas mileage , the AWD performance was ok this past Winter ( the vehicle sits a bit too low for a big snowfall ) . I wish that it had better sound proofing as there is some road noise . My Kona is comfortable to sit in ( I'm 6'2") and handles well on turns . I like the sound system but was disappointed that my model does not come with the option of the premium audio system , which is very important for me since I am an audiophile . As far as the overall styling , the one thing that could be improved is the plastic trim on the outside of the vehicle , especially on the wheel wells , the plastic fades or becomes discolored and any scratches to it become very visible and noticeable . Like I mentioned before , I am happy with my Kona's performance overall and would recommend it to family and friends .

Decent vehicle

I leased the Kona after having a terrible time with my Ford Fiesta. The Kona so far after a year of leasing has been pretty good. Not any major issues have occurred. It is a bit slow to get started from a complete stop, but it’s not the worst car out there. It is limited on cargo space, a weeks worth of a groceries barely fits in the trunk space, but for me that’s ok. I would have to say overall it is a pretty good vehicle because it is reliable. However I am not purchasing it after my lease term is up because I really wanted a Subaru to begin with, but I didn’t have enough money at the time to purchase one. So for the money the Kona is a decent cheaper alternative to a Subaru, but I don’t believe the quality is quite as good.

My Review

the overall looks and performance of the car is okay, however, the suspension at rear wheels are not good, every time I hit some small pot holes it really feels that the car is pushing hard down and you will hear a sudden impact, it needs improvement, the doors are all hard plastic looks very boring it should at least wrap parts to match outside appearance. stereo quality is not high quality, the media is not playing video files

Kona

Purchased car new, my sixth Hyundai vehicle. I do not believe I would buy another Kona. I would move back up to Tuscon. The 2018 Tuscon surpasses my Kona for interior comfort. I like my heads up, which surprisingly the Tuscon does not have.

Ultimate Kona 2018

Great car but needs some additional elements in the package deal. A DVD player should be standard and so should cooled seats and stable safety distance in Cruise Control. Big tires and turbo will take you anywhere you want! Brakes could be better as mine crunch a lot and sound like I need new rotors. Only have 5500 miles on but dealer said brakes look fine. I am not convinced although they are working fine, just sound funky a lot.

Good Affordable AWD

The kona did amazing in the snow and heavy rain. Only complaints would be my battery has some charging issue and it wouldn't start at one point but I fixed that, the car is pretty heavy with it being AWD so more power out of factory would be nice at least for the SE model but overall it's a great buy.

I love my Kona!

This is a fun car to drive, the stereo, especially using CarPlay is great, I love the 36mpg I am getting..When I bought it there were few on the road, now there are more, it has all the features I wanted for a good price.

Excellent but needs more Aftermarket Performance Parts Available

Great overall vehicle. Great on gas and driveability is excellent. Interior panels do scratch easy not sure if lower quality material because my other Hyundai is not like that unless you bang into it hard enough. I honestly feel this vehicle needs more support of aftermarket parts and accessories.

Nice sporty little thing

On my 3rd Hyundai and I’ve loved them all! 2007 Santa Fe, my favorite. 2016 Tucson roomy and great price. Now my Kona which I enjoy the sporty ness of it but not much room to move. I wish I had gotten a better “package”. Feel like it needs some things that are missing. Will definitely go back to leather, bigger tires & probably turbo. I feel like the Tucson has more to offer over Kona. The new Santa Fe is too big for just me.

The More I Drive It, The More I Like It

It seems each week I'm discovering either new features of which I wasn't really aware or new and better ways to use them. For instance, my three constant dissatisfactions with the Kona was 1) the noise drastic noise levels inside the car, especially encountered on concrete pavements such is common on interstate highways /bridges and some older asphalt surfaces, 2) not being able to see the instrument panel when using the tilt steering wheel in a comfortable position, and 3) AC/heat system vents that can't be adjusted for maximum driver and passenger comfort. Of these, I recently discovered with the help of my dealer's service staff that I didn't have to rely on viewing the standard needle-type odometer in the instrument panel but could switch to a digital mode. This one discovery seems small but large to me. It means that after a year of driving the car, I could easily view my driving speed without straining my neck to look through the steering wheel or over it. The other two still bug me, especially the road noise, but resolving one out of three helped greatly. Otherwise, I really enjoy this vehicle.

After one year and 13,000+ miles

Highs; Handles great, looks good in red and black, simple but functional controls, great (32 city, 37 hwy) gas mileage, roomy and versatile and easy to keep spiffy outside. Lows: Poor acceleration and sometimes balky transmission (highly unusual considering the 7 Hyundai cars I have owned in past 16-years). Otherwise a fun, fun car to drive! I only wish the Corporate people who read this (are there any?) would give some consideration and respond to my not so complementary, but constructive minded comments and not just take for granted my continuous loyalty.

Love my Kona ‘18

Zippy. Parks great. Fair gas mileage. Small cargo space. Comfy backseats. Needs better driver lumbar support. Apple Play sucks/never works consistently or for more than @ 25% of the time. So maybe the sound system needs improvement?

great on GAS- cute- not the most comfortable car - but I am getting use to it - however there is a MOLD MILDEW SMELL every time I turn the air conditioner on for the first time of the day - NO ONE AT THE DEALER CAN FIX IT OR EVEN TRY TO LISTEN TO ME/// It is slow to accelerate- however when you put the sport on it is better- The defroster is slow -
