Leader of the Compact SUV Segment
The Kona was a vehicle that I kept my eye on for a handful of months. There was not much information on it until mid-March. Before making my decision on purchasing the Kona, I had looked at a range of other cars in the same compact SUV segment. Mazda CX-3, Chevy Trax, Ford EcoSport, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Golf Alltrack to new a few. All of them seemed rather bland in terms of their styling, features, and performance. Enter Kona. The Kona has two available engine options. The first being very similar to every other car in the segment, with just under 150 HP. The second, being a peppier 175 HP turbo, puts its power above the rest. Style-wise, the Kona definitely turns heads. It looks unlie anything else in its segment. At first glance it may not be appealing, but it is a design that grew very quickly on me. Driving this daily is a pleasure. The seats are very comfortable and hold you in place fairly well. Visibility is great out of all viewing areas. The ride is very smooth and responsive. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Kona. For all the features it comes with, it is very competitively priced and is a tremendous value relative to its competitors.
