Lemon

This used Subaru Forester had the following issues and recommendations upon inspection by an independent mechanic: leaking head gasket; replace very rusty exhaust system; replace timing belt; replace old tires; trouble shoot bad tire pressure indicator(s); replace old plugs/wires and battery; service AC system; service brakes; and more. And this car even had a clean CarFax, plus passing the Maryland State inspection!

Engine wore out at 150000 miles.

Even with regular oil changes, the engine used oil, not leaking, burning. The engine used all the oil and locked costing about $5,000 for a new engine. This is not 1950, it is 2000, and engines in cars today can easily last 300,000 miles if serviced regularly. More than a few mechanics told me this is a problem with Subaru engines to include an "aside" comment from a Subaru employee. Never another Subaru.

2009 Forester Great once we got the kinks out

We bought this car used. It ran fine then out of the blue various warning lights began setting off and the engine was misfiring to the point of also dumping the car for a loss. Luckily the Subaru Dealership met me halfway on a ton of diagnostic work and after shelling out about $2000, the issues were resolved. The fuel lines were flushed and electronic fuel injection + catalytic converter were replaced. (Knock on Wood) this car keeps on trucking. After owning 4 Subaru Legacy Wagon's this was our first forester. I am glad I didn't dump the car as the Subaru Corporation Customer Service Rep. told me to do.

2009 Subaru Forester Review

In general, the car is very good but the manual transmission is a piece of crap. Compared to those of Volkswagen and Ford, it's something that Subaru should hang their heads in shame over.

2009 Subaru Forester

This Forester is the 2nd of 3 manual transmission vehicles we've had the pleasure of owning. Have had no significant problems with any of them, but there have been some minor glitches. 2000 Forester - some electrical problem caused the battery liquid to overflow and caused some metal corrosion problems on the battery side of the engine compartment. Repaired under warranty by the dealer(Bob Baker Subaru, El Cajon, CA. 2009 Forester - drivers side manual seat height doesn't work properly. The seat drifts downward when the seat is unoccupied and must be raised to proper height each time the vehicle is entered. Bob Baker Subaru could never find the cause even though the vehicle was taken to them many times. 2016 Forester - no problems so far.

Great vehicle - Subaru Forester

I love my Subaru Forester. I didn't give my review 5 stars because I wish that the Forester had fog lights. The car sits high up and on a dark night those fog lights would help me see better at night.

Perfect Car for Me

Great, reliable, safe, and fun to drive car. This the second Subaru Forester that I have owned and I am sure that there have been several sales based on my testimony and raving about how much I love to drive my car. It is the perfect car for me as I travel across the state to see my grandchildren or head to the beach for a weekend trip.

This is by far the best car I have ever owned. It has 108k on it and I have never had a problem with it. Runs just like it did when it had 50k miles on it.

The best vehicle on the market for the price sold for, Subru Forester and Outback

I was searching for a new car to replace my Ford Excape. I had ne ver considered a Suburu, I had looked at the usual, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet etc. I eventually crossed into a Suburu Dealer, drove a Suburu Forrester, did some research, returned to dealer, purchased the vehicle and have been satisi=fied with the car and would consider purchasing a new model car in the future.

Subaru 2009 Forester

This car has served me well for several years and I hope that it will do so for several more. It can function like a car--comfortable to drive and to ride in--or like a truck--with the seats down a lot of stuff can go in the back.
