Rear Axle issue

There is a grinding noise coming from rear axle since the purchase. I took it to the dealership and was told it is a known issue and will be fixed under warranty. I still yet have to hear from them. I don't use the car, that is how bothersome the problem is.

Wonderful Vehicle - Subpar Service

A superb vehicle is heavily outshined by not being separated from the parent company of Hyundai. The only real complaints I have with the vehicle is subpar gas mileage and having to deal with a Hyundai dealership who do not know what "luxury" means.

GV80

Make sure you research the Dealership. Autofair is very misleading and is not to be trusted. Service is horrible, the repair is very sloppy and not completed. The techs are lacking quality and do not verify that the job is completed. The repair should be reveiwed which is was not and things were not put back together correctly. Very dissatisfied with the repair and the service rep.

Great vehicle. Bad concierge service and dealer treatment.

Although I was excited about the GV80 and G90 that I owned since the first time I read about them and ultimately purchased both, the terrible experience with Genesis/Hyundai dealerships as well as the concierge ultimately led me to sell both and warn many friends and family members away from the vehicle brand. The vehicles quality was second to none but customer experience was so disappointing and insulting.

Genesis missed the mark

Genesis missed the mark when I started having issues with mine and my husband's car bought on the same day. The dealership is quick to say problems don't exist and Genesis corporate is not able to step in and do anything when it does not work out in their benefit.

Great car bad dealers

Our Genesis GV80 was a great car the only negative was the Hyundai dealerships . Hyundai dealerships are not in the same class as the other premium luxury brands and if you are paying a premium price you should get a premium service and sales experience. Even using the concierge services was terrible. The Hyundai dealerships have no business selling the Genesis Brand.

No service available in Albuquerque hence 3 stars

The vehicle itself is great. The problem is, I can’t get my vehicle serviced in Albuquerque. I have to travel hundreds of miles on my own dime to get an oil change. This is ridiculous. Genesis left customers high and dry without letting anyone know. What kind of customer service is that? The dealership I bought the car from won’t do anymore oil changes because they aren’t carrying Genesis filters. Which means any service needed won’t be done. I’m so disappointed. How do you think I’m going to recommend a vehicle if there’s no way of getting it serviced In Albuquerque?

Not what I expected.

The GV80 is nice and drives well but not worth the money. The gas mileage is awful and the vehicle requires premium fuel. Some of the basic features are very complicated on the GV80 and the placement of interior features can be awkward. Sound system is great, however.

Nice styling. Questionable quality control. Take the car to dealer first oil change. Dealer said problem with oil plug from factory. Waiting on new oil pan which is not in stock. Put me in a g70 loaner. Too small. I should be in a comparable car that I can fit in

Great vehicle with a major problem

Great design and features. Very comfortable to drive. Loads of safety features. One major problem. Heater blows minimal hot air in the front and back footwells and it is ver uncomfortable (almost impossible) to drive the vehicle in the winter. Also, A/C blows hot air sporadically in the summer. Dealership tells me it is working properly and they cannot do anything about it. Deal breaker?

Heating is a disaster

I ordered this car months in advance and was eagerly waiting for it after driving Hyundai for years and then also buying a Equus and loving it and then getting a new G90 Genesis as well as a Hyundai Pallisade. It's a sharp vehicle and drives great but the heating has been totally unreliable and Genesis has been very slow and poor in getting it addressed and fixed. Actually I understand this is a ubiquitous problem with GV80 but has not been recalled or advertised. My car has been in shop at least for a third of the time I've owned it. Genesis process for resolution with customer care at least made me feel better but they have done very little to pressure the dealer to get the problem fixed. They won't even extend the warranty IF the problem ever gets fixed. They at least have me in a variety of loaner cars. I feel for the first time in 10 years dealing with Hyundai/Genesis that I've got a lemon and they know it and they don't want to admit. I love the products and hence have bought 5 cars--I think Genesis owes me a new car. They have disassembled and rebuilt the entire heating and air conditioning system multiple times and NOTHING works and then it's another 1-2 weeks and nothing changes. Very dissatisfied.

Genesis does NOT care about their customers' privacy

Someone bought a car from Genesis and gave them my email address instead of their own, so I received ALL of their emails from Genesis, including some personally identifiable information, which is a serious violation of privacy law. Genesis could have prevented this by sending a verification link to the entered email address, which is industry standard practice for ANY company that takes privacy seriously, but they didn't.

Think twice before buying.

Two things you need to think twice before buy if you come from luxury cars. (1) QUALITY. Yes, I agreed that GV80 has a beautiful design and all cutting features but quality seems not to keep up. That is why I traded in my E class. But I felt so regretful after two weeks. Firstly, the suspension is too firmed that I can feel all road defects on your seat. Note: Suspension wont change a bit between comfort and sport modes. The road noise is loud above 60mph, lot of rumble noise. Out of the dealer, my brand new GV80 vibrated around 75mph with a drone/whooping noise like something out of balance. (I could not find out the problem because Genesis dealers gave me only few miles to test drive. If it is a tire problem, then I am lucky. If not, there will be a long way to go because there are multiple components contribute to that noise type. (2) SERVICE. Yes in term of quantity, GV80 has a longer warranty than other manufactures. But in term of quality, I dont think they treat you like other luxury brands. You will be treated like a Huyndai customer service. You have to fight for every problem you have. When I tried to book my appointment for the vibration problem online, next available slot is 28 days from now. I had to drive back to the dealer and face-to-face complained with them. They did a test-drive, acknowledged the problem but it took another 10 days to rebalance the tires. Now wait again.

Genesis needs to improve quality control and service.

I spent a month to research. I watched and read all reviews of GV80 on Youtube and any websites. All praised GV80 as a new hidden gem except two reviews with "harsh ride". Since GV80 has a beautiful design with all cutting edge features, and long warranty, I did couple of short drive tests and bit the bullet (Note: 3 Genesis dealers gave me cars with an almost empty tank to test drive). I bought a GV80 advanced+ and immediately regretted after the first trip . Oh man, the suspension is too firm which it indents all road defects on my seat. There is no way to adjust the suspension even if I change the drive modes. The firm suspension causes vibration and rumble noise above 60mph. Worsely, my brand new GV80 got few problems right out of the dealer's door. It vibrated around 75mph with whooping noise. It is like something out of balance (tires, driveshaft, differential...). Also, the wipers were squeaky. They even knocked under heavy rain. When I tried to book an appointment for the problems online, the next available slot is 28 days from now. I had to drive back to the dealer to escalate the complaint. The service manager did a test-drive, acknowledged the vibration and the noise but it took another 10 days to rebalance the tires. All problems or services have to wait days/weeks to serve. In my opinion, think carefully if you are from a luxury car like Lexus, Mercedes, BMW... Genesis provides more luxury features, longer warranty with lower cost. But these are QUANTITY. The QUALITY is far lower than other luxury brands.

Front lights

The headlights come with a manufacturing defect and when you make the claim hey tell you that you can not change them. And the seller do. That is no one solves the defect that came from the factory, the service department tells you that they cannot do anything

GV80 - Great idea, Poor Execution

The top-of-the-line GV 80 Prestige Package does not come with a spare or a space saver spare, it does not come with run flat tires, it only has an inflation kit that does not work on a side wall flat. That is what I had on the fourth day I had my car. Further, Genesis contracts with AAA to do the Road Side Assistance but AAA, will not use the inflation kit even if it was a non-sidewall flat. Quite simply, Genesis North America leaves you stranded. Their Concierge Service representatives are all very nice but have no ability to get things done or handle the problem. Further, my navigation system has never worked properly and after time at both the dealer and with the concierge on the phone I still do not have a workable solution.

Do not purchase

After owning our vehicle for just over a month, it went in the shop. It’s been almost 2 months and we still don’t have it back. The service has been horrible at the dealership. I plan on selling it as soon as I get it back. After all the problems with the dealership, it has put such a sour taste for this brand.
