Unhappy after One Year

After purchasing new and owning this car for a year, I still genuinely enjoy many aspects of it. The luxury feel, comfort, and overall performance have been excellent, and when everything is working properly, it’s a pleasure to drive. The ride quality and refinement are exactly what I hoped for when purchasing the vehicle. That said, there are a couple of disappointing issues that have impacted my ownership experience. The adaptive cruise control has been frustrating, especially on curved roads. The system frequently appears to read vehicles in adjacent lanes instead of correctly tracking the lane I’m driving in, which causes unnecessary braking and makes the feature difficult to trust. For a vehicle in this class, I expected the technology to perform more reliably. My biggest disappointment has been the sunroof. I’ve owned many vehicles with sunroofs and never had issues like this before. Unfortunately, this vehicle has spent weeks at the dealership on multiple occasions for the same recurring problem. Parts have been replaced, repairs were performed, and while I hoped the issue was resolved, the same problem has started happening again just this week. It’s frustrating and disappointing to continue dealing with a recurring issue after so much time in service. Overall, I still love the vehicle for its luxury and driving experience, but the repeated sunroof problems and unreliable cruise control technology have taken away from what would otherwise be an outstanding ownership experience.

A well-balanced premium SUV still having room to improve

There is simply not much competition in US market for mid-sized premium SUV if 6-cycl engine, real leather are required below 100k USD. Genesis GV80 checks all the boxes and delivers a very nice looking SUV. Inside out, there are no too obvious weakness. It is also modern looking (27inch OLED), carrying a lot of cool techs (adaptive cruise control) actually working very well. Some features are less than perfect -- guess from cost control, to prevent me to give 10/10. For a real luxury SUV, I expect more ride smoothness and stableness (my previous Lexus GX460 was super smooth on highway and super stable even in blizzard). Also, the mood light choice is limited, the B&O audio is great but still less than spectacular. There is still too much hard plastic and low quality material (center console cover). Genesis still has some work to do to make GV80 from premium to luxury.

It's a fun techie car that is a great value

The tech features and quality of the car are pretty good and particularly good for the price vs competitors. The ride is quiet and smooth and you can see quality and attention to detail in most of the build. I think the software generally works pretty well, but it can be quirky. Being so dependent on screens and software I am interested to see how the software and equipment hold up over time. I use Apple CarPlay exclusively so I don't really look at the Genesis software related to their iOS app or in the car itself. The app is fine, but nothing special outside of the digital key which is great to have. The software in the vehicle not related to navigation/music seems to work fine. I particularly like the driving safety features and it's been really nice with lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and those types of Highway Driving Assist features. We've owned it for about a year now and haven't had any issues. My only other note is to confirm where the Genesis dealership is and if it is a dedicated service center or if it's shared with Hyundai or other brands. Having owned cars from different brands in the past if you go to the dealership for servicing it's often nicer to have a more dedicated premium dealer. Experience is usually smoother, location more convenient.

Great Car

The GV80 is an excellent vehicle. It is very comfortable and has a relatively easy user interface. The mileage obtained is actually better than the sticker ratings. Had some problems initially, but they were repaired by the local dealer. The local dealer has been great to work with.

Love the car but the key fob is very poorly designed. The buttons are too small. Further when I approach tglhe car it takes too long to unlock automatically.

MY GV 80

My Genesis GV80 really stands out for that “quiet luxury” feel. Genesis tuned it more toward comfort and refinement than sporty stiffness, so the soft suspension, low cabin noise, and supportive seats make highway trips especially relaxing.

Not worth the money

This car is full of quirks. The radio will not come on, the screen won't come on, the wind noise is bad, there is already a squeak in the back and can't be found. No spare and to have one built was over $1,200. For the price of the car, these things should not be happening!
