2026 GV80 Prestige Black

Overall I enjoy the car. Lots of bells and whistles, but I'm on my 5th Genesis. I've has two G90s and 3 GV80s so Im quite familiar. Only issue I have with this is the fingerprint scanner can be a little tempermental. It works sometimes, other times not. Sound and comfort is great along with the ride.

Great vehicle but a few misses

I will focus on the shortcomings. No massager on passenger seat. Auto headlights have to be activated each drive. Same with auto lane keeping mode. Keyfob should be assigned to a driver to select your settings. Fingerprint to select user is very cumbersome and doesn’t work half the time. Really dislike that auto lock feature is missing!! Love the large screen and overall styling.

Fun to drive, the bells and whistles not so great.

Love the look and feel of the car. However we can't even get the seats to operate properly or remember settings. Digital rear view camera is worthless at night and kind of so so during the day, either a low quality camera or a low quality screen. Annoying messages at startup and some kind of take a break notification that can't be disabled. Met with the tech guy twice, actually brought it to the shop and got nothing resolved. Very disappointing.

Automatic Wiper Issues and Limited Cup Holder Space

The automatic windshield wipers are not working properly. I have to turn them off and then back to auto to get them to start working, and even then the speed is inconsistent. The car also needs more cup holders, and the existing ones should be larger.

Bad experience after bad experience

First, we paid $1700 to fix the hole left in the tailgate of our GV80 from bumping an empty plastic garbage can while backing out of our driveway going no more than 2-3 mph. The reason is because the tailgate is not made of metal but instead a cheap plastic composite. And the backup sensors never alerted or to the presence of the garbage can or stopped the vehicle. Genesis told us there was nothing they could do about it and couldn’t even take a look at the car to make sure that the sensors were functioning properly. More recently, my wife spent 3 hours at a Genesis dealership to have a software update performed and in the end no one did the work and she now has to reschedule. This is the “luxury” experience you are saying for. Be forewarned.

Good vehicle but improvements needed

Good exterior styling, comfort and acceleration. Great safety features and car practically drives itself on highways. Good warranty and customer service. Not enough space in front seats for storage, should add shelf in center console. Instrument cluster is complicated and apps go off if screen is touched. Price is high with most features available on lower cost Hyundai models. Mileage should be improved with a hybrid or electric version.

New Genesis Owner

I have historically owned & leased the BMW X5 & X7 SUVs, as well as the large Mercedes SUVs. Overall, I am pleased with the GV 80 & am still sorting through some of the technology differences between the BMW & Mercedes. One of the things I don't like about the GV80 is that the side pockets on the doors are basically useless in terms of storing anything in them. This was never an issue in either the BMW or Mercedes.

Overpriced and disappointing

I’m extremely disappointed in both this VEHICLE and the Customer Service. The right quality sucks. You feel every bump in the road. My wife was backing out of her driveway going no more than 2 mph when she accidentally struck a plastic garbage can that was left in the driveway apron by the garbage man. It man managed to pierce a hole through the liftgate because it’s not made out of metal, but rather some cheap composite. When I told Customer Service about this, they told me to go find a height. The technology is far from easy to use and glitches. I could go on and on about how disappointed I am in this vehicle. I’m actually considering selling it even though it is less than three months old.
