2014 Genesis Coupe Ultimate Review
Awesome car for the money! I shopped the Mustang, Q60 coupe, Subaru BRZ, and the 370Z. While the Genesis was not as fast as the Mustang GT it felt more luxurious and seemed to handle more sporty. It was not as luxurious as the Q60 but was faster and again handled more sporty. The BRZ was a more sporty better handling car but felt underpowered and definitely not as fast nor as luxurious. The 370Z was every bit as fast as the Genesis and the handling was very similar feeling it but did not feel quite as luxurious in the interior though. At the end of the day the decision came down to price as the Mustang GT, Q60, and 370Z were all very close to $50k similarly equipped to my Genesis Ultimate but I got a real nice deal on the Genesis right at $30k. The BRZ was about $3k less still than the Genesis but really felt like it was a more "budget" or entry level base model. The BRZ almost felt like driving a go cart which I must admit was tremendously fun, however, I just felt that the nicer, quieter, and more well apportioned interior of the Genesis would be better driving to and from work everyday not to mention the additional 150HP. The 370Z was probably the closest contender but even with a deal on the "Nismo" it was still around $40K. The only other determining factor for me was the fact that on my way to work today I passed 3 Infiniti coupes, 8 350-370Z's, countless hordes of Mustangs, and 1 BRZ and 2 of its twin FRS's. I did not see another Genesis Coupe on my 52 mile drive to the office.
