Excellent mileage but intermittent problems when the weather is hot.
One of the few hybrids that does not have a CVT transmission. Drives better IMHO, than a Prius. Has returned upwards of 65 mpg on long highway trips averaging 70 mph. Typically can easily average 55 mpg in mixed conditions.
What has let this car down is the intermittent problem of the hybrid system not starting when temps are hotter than 90-95 degrees F. The car will drive on the gas engine alone, but there is no power to ANY electrical system—no turn signals, no lights, would not recommend driving on the street if the hybrid system is not fully powered up. Once cooled, car powers up as normal. So far, 4 instances in 14,000 miles with the dealer unable duplicate the problem, nor any known fix.
