There are challenges to this vehicle that Hyundai has yet to address

I owned this vehicle for about a year and was not comfortable in it as all of what was promised did not deliver so I change vehicles. I could never find anyone who knew about the vehicle to answer questions. Once I purchase the car only saw three in the whole Georgia area. The only positive about that vehicle is he mileage

Love the car but disappointed with the average mileage

I love the car with one big exception which I have documented and communicated to this dealership and your corporate offices on numerous occasions. I purchased the vehicle with the expectation that it would average 55 MPG as was shown on the window sticker. No matter how conservatively I drive the vehicle, I am unable to achieve more than 47 MPG average as shown on the dashboard computer reading. I documented this problem and manually calculated the MPG for months and found that the actual mileage over the life of each tank of fuel was even lower than the computer reading showing 44-46 MPG. I shared all the history and documentation to the dealership and your corporate/customer service folks and their only response was to blame my driving habits. I finally gave up after falling on deaf ears and being blamed for the deficiency over and over. I can't afford to start a class action suit over the matter, but I will be the first in line when I am notified that others have experienced the same disappointing mileage and take it to the next level. I leased this vehicle so I am committed for 3 years and it is unlikely that I would sign for another Hyundai after this experience.

Engine Attenuator Fluid Scam

Discovering the hard way that a dealership will need to perform a $100 service every 22500 miles leaves me feeling scammed. It's a few ounces of brake fluid, for goodness sakes. This oversight (or intentional act?) by Hyundai leaves me turning my thoughts to negative regarding my purchase. Because of this, I'll be scouring the service requirement of any future vehicle purchase, looking for hidden surprises like this. Unfortunately, I'm familiar with the Hyundai system regarding complaints. This item, and my complaints will not see the light of day due to the "save face and full speed ahead" attitude of the corporate heads.

Problems with car even with regular services

Knocking noise started right after the purchase. Transmission jerking problem from the 1st day. Headlight blown in year. Airconditioning fan noise got louder in 8 months. Weather seal on passenger door replaced within 6 months. Wind noise increased through weather seals in 1 year. USB jack doesn’t have enough power to charge my Samsung Galaxy S8 and service knew about it.

Great Features but Unacceptable Road Noise

The Ioniq delivers great gas mileage, and it affords solid safety features: blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, and rear cross traffic alert. A power adjustabt driver's seat and dual climate control are also desirable features. It has adeguate interior space for passengers and cargo. However, the interior trim is bland with a lot of hard plastic. All of these strong points are undone by an unacceptabe level of cabin noise; tire noise in particular is deafening. At highway speed on Southern California roads, it is not possible to carry on a conversation without shouting, and, even on city streets with anything but new asphalt, the tire noise is too loud. The car come without any sound deadening material installed. The cost to install after market material ranges from $1,250 to $2, 000. I would not recommend this vehicle and would not buy another in the future.

Love it

The car is by far the best car on the market, but it still doesn't get the mileage it says it should. At best I pull 49mpg. I don't know why google maps doesn't come through on navigation. I don't know why the windshield wiper works the way it does, it's confusing. I can't figure out how to preset my seat preference. It gets stuck in the mud very easily. Road noise is not comfortable.

Average satisfaction

Major disappointment is with the transmission. Not smooth at very slow speeds and in reverse. Hesitates on quick acceleration. Miss having a compass, exterior thermometer. Wheel design looks cheap.

so so

I enjoy the car, but it's been in the shop twice. The first time the engine light went on.They fixed that in an hour. The second time the car was in the shop for 2 weeks. Not at all happy about that. I don't know how to rate the car.

Great car BUT

When you continually say that this car gets 55 plus miles to the gallon and it only gets 42 + you are misleading your customer. And when complaint is made over and over you say it looks ok to us and give it back with 36 mpg showing on the reading dial

Love the Design

Love the design of the vehicle, but tired of Hyundai's lack of knowledge about repairs and constantly saying there vehicle is operating as designed when it obviously isn't. Very frustrating when issues take 1 1/2 years of complaining about before anyone will even look into the problem, just to find out there is definitely a problem after being made to feel like a fool for all that time.

Too many repairs

Although the service was great and the Tech Victoria was super sweet and helpful, I take pause about a car in repairs for over a week for an led dashboard. Would love to trade in . Only has 3700 miles!!

Ioniq Hybrid not all its touted to be

do not expect to get the kind of milage that is advertised. styling is nice, handling is good, accelleration is fair but adequate, some road noise more than expected, NO SPARE TIRE....its a tow job to the dealer if you have a flat tire or blowout. Tires are specialty items and pricey and dealer prices are higher than places like Discount Tire or Tires Plus etc. Metal construction is lightweight and in some places flimsy plastic attachments secure a panel to another.

Mediocre

Gets me around, but I paid $400 for a repair that should have been covered under warranty as powertrain, but Hyundai considers ignition coils to be electrical. AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. CEL CAME BACK ON RECENTLY!

Is a step down in driving quality

1- Mileage is not that good as advertised. Commuting to work, in an area with traffic lights and stop signs at almost every intersection, I'm getting about 42 MPG 2- When slow starting to stay at low speeds the switching from gas to electric drive can produce very rough shifting (the whole car shakes) 3- Driver seat in uncomfortable 4- Car is noisy at highway speeds 5- Transmission shifting through low gears is rough 6- Highway mileage could be very good (even more than the advertised 59 MPG) as long as you maintain average speed below 60 MPH. At higher speeds the mileage deteriorates rapidly

Ionic is a nice car.

The car is nice . MPG are OK if you drive under 60 . I have 70,000 on it now . I will find out how much of a money pit this will be from now on .I am told the Tran's fluid will cost me 250 or so . the belt is 200 . I didn't find out anything on the water pump yet .

Great Mileage

Car has great mileage. Since the loud engine idle and engine hesitation started after a year of ownership, I am very concerned about the endurance capabilities of this car after it is no longer a relatvely new car.

very economical

I find the car to have more space than its completion. The headroom is good except for the backseat I guess due to it being a hatchback. The wife loves the hatchback and it has plenty of room for groceries and luggage. The fuel economy is great. I'm averaging 56mpg/combined. Acceleration is adequate plenty enough to merge on the interstate. Seats are comfortable. Radio cluster is good plenty of features. I have the SEL it has some very good safety features. I think its a great car for the money. Thanks Hyundai.

Mpg

So while there are a ton of things I love about it. I will mention what is not good, 59mpg is some BS I pull 44-48 everyday and I go the speed limit. The trunk button on the key chain is worthless, not sure why it exists. The 25second delay on the remote start is annoying.

New model

Overall the vehicle drives well. As it is a new model, some kinks are evident and dealer training is not up to speed. The mileage is good but not quite as high as I thought it would be and I'm a conservative driver, not rabbiting from stops or pushing the envelope as I try for highest mileage possible. Navigation and audio system have occasion lock up for audio or nav system doesn't recognize some addresses even though they have been there for years.
