new car

it is a good car. I'm not thrilled with the seat heaters, which were very important to me. I think Hyundai should be giving free oil changes, especially for taking the time to fill out this survey. Displays are nice.

Many good features, but....

Let me start by saying that overall I am very pleased with my vehicle. There are, hovever, several issues that should be noted. First, the integrated GPS. I have documented 4 instances where the GPS has asked me to drive through brick walls, cross railroad tracks where there is no crossing and indicated that I have arrived at my destination while I am stopped across from it separated by a 25’ drainage ditch. No rear wiper. A hatchback without a rear wiper means that the driver cannot see out he back window in snow and rain. No spare tire, just an inflation kit. I guess the premise is that you NEVER get a blowout.

Great on gas

So far really enjoy gas savings of the car. The car is smooth and quiet. I only wish the silver color was a bit more vibrant or shiny. The setup was easy but still learning what it can do. I enjoy apple play and ease of controls. Wish I had the ability to upgrade my rear view mirror- totally disappointed that it is not an upgrade or option. Used to this feature on my other vehicle.

Hyundai Fans Trying their Newest Effort

My experience with a 2002 Sonata (sold to a friend and the first needed repair for the car a new alternator at 95,000 miles), current 2006 Azera with 75,000 miles and nearly flawless, brought us to the Ioniq when considering replacement for a 2011 Prius. This is more comfortable and conventional than the Prius, and the important to us interior space is just a bit larger than the Prius though it doesn't have the Prius no-lip hatchback loading - wish it did. I think that Hyundai's are quality cars and good value. Our previous two - and I usually take a Sonata or Elantra when given a rental choice - have been very competent, solid on the road and slightly interesting to drive. We took the Ioniq out on the interstate in a heavy rain last night, and, while it didn't feel as assured as my larger and heavier Azera, it was good enough for a smaller and lighter hybrid. We have one complaint so far: the abundance, variety and in your face-ness of all of its displays, and choices that need to be made about what you see behind the steering wheel and at the audio screen is overwhelming, confusing and distracting. One of the first times out of the driveway my wife drove into some shrubbery because she was distracted in trying to deal with all of the information trying to get her attention. Result from just a short scratch and damaged plastic style pieces on the door was 900 dollars. We've already run down the small battery (which is then recharged by the large battery) because the radio doesn't turn off after turning off the car without holding down the off button for a count of two. When you start the car and even if you have the display turned off you get a screen lecturing you to drive safely and requires that you press your agreement on the screen to remove the page and turn off the display. That's just insulting. When the display is on, even the minimal amount of information is a distraction from the job of looking over the steering wheel and driving down the road. Drives me nuts, and my wife into the shrubs. But that said, this is probably an excellent Hyundai version of hybrid. We're very happy to have it in the family so far.

Ioniq surpasses Prious in gas mileage

If you are looking for the best hybrid gas mileage this is the car to purchase. I get 55-60 mpg regularly. It is very easy to drive locally but not nearly as much fun when on the freeway. The interior is comfortable and all of the important safety features are available.

Prius Competitor Is An Alternative Well Worth Checking Out

9 Months ago I traded my 2102 Prius 2 on a 2017 Hyundai IONIQ SEL model. In 2013, I bought that Prius used (Certified) with only 16,900 miles on it. It was cute, scientifically fascinating, comfortable enough and a great cargo capacity with a flat floor loading surface from the rear bumper to the folded down real seats. I was able to transport amazing cargo including an 18 cu ft refrigerator and a 7 cu ft foot chest freezer in the original packing. That plus the obvious 50 plus mpg made it the best car and best value I ever owned In 2017, as my Prius was getting "long-in-the tooth," my tires were wearing and the car was well out of all warrantees at 70,000 miles. I saw promos and tests for the new Hyundai Ionic and visited a nearby dealership (Hyundai of St. Augustine, Fl) to look at the IONIQ. IMOP the car looked better than even the updated Prius 2016 designs. The warrantees offered were more thorough. My test drive on the SEL model revealed a car that behaved more like a car, with noticeably better acceleration, braking and handling. Instead of a CVT slow powercurve transmission, the IONIC SEL used a dual clutch 6 speed automatic. Real gears. Real shift points with a choice of shifting manually through the gears or letting the very capable automatic transmission do it. The dashboard was definitely more car-like, with a comprehensive assortment of colorful instrumentation and displays. The only thing it lacked in regards to the Prius was an INSTANT readout of MPG in real time. What you get instead is a "cumulative average" mpg based on the total miles driven by the car up to that moment. The roofline is a bit lower than the Prius. Getting in and out was more difficult. Other than that the cargo area seemed roomier with the back seats up. The fact that the battery pack was smaller than the Prius, lowered the real cargo floor and there was no unobstructed loading floor as in the Prius. The cargo floor was 8 inches lower behind the "lip" making sliding in a load as a large appliance in the box impossible. Plus, the back seats, when folded down, are not flush with the cargo floor as in the older Prius. So, if I could wave a magic wand, I would change those issues. But I am getting a little better than 50 mpg and this Hyundai has PEP! Can accelerate and merge with traffic much better than the "apologetic" Prius.

What a car!

I was so glad to have found this hybrid Ioniq from Hyundai! I LOVE the car. I commute over 60 miles a day and not having to get gas but every two weeks really helps my wallet. I bought this as my forever car since I'm looking to retire this year. I love driving it and so far, it's really comfortable. The sound system is great and there is so much room in the back seat for my grandkids. I can't help but feel good with I get in the car.,

Good deal

I used to drive a Prius. I bought it new in 2012, but discovered there was an issue with the engine. When I was looking for a new car, I needed something with good gas mileage and did some research. I had it down to another Prius or an Ioniq. Hyundai had a better, free service plan, better gas mileage, and was more cost effective. I've had the Ioniq for almost 5k miles and am happy with my purchase.

Awesome

I was planning on buying a Prius! Glad I found the Hyundai Ioniq instead! This car runs great and the gas lasts triple the time from the last car. It has a sporty type look which is always a plus. It’s a great car

Hyundai Ioniq

The fuel economy is good but it could be better. The features would be better is it had lane keep assist, and forward sensing collision warning sensors. Also no navigation system for the price is a bummer would have been a great vehicle. But overall is a good car.

Hyundai Ioniq

This car has been a pretty good car, but does has a few that could use some improvement. I have 29000 miles on mine. One issue that I personally having is the brakes. When coming to a stop the vehicle reachs a slow speed then it feels like your slamming on the brakes with out applying anymore pressure to the pedal. Dangerous when it’s slick outside.

Good car

This vehicle has potential to be a great car. The exterior looks nice and is different from other vehicles. The gas mileage does not meet the qualifications as advertised. I get only around 47 mpg. Also learned that the rear end of the car is made of plastic and is not steel. I’m sure this was for gas mileage purposes but it should get more mpg than 47. Otherwise a great vehicle.

Floor mats and a cargo shield should come standard with the high end Ioniq... it's a hassle and costly to order these items from dealership.hyundai is not advertising the Ioniq very well. I lucked out finding the car. Most dealers have none on stock .

Cool and Efficient

The Hyundai Ioniq is sporty, holds 5 passengers, and averages 60+ miles per gallon if you don't floor it. The quality of the paint job and the interior is top shelf and the ride is extremely quite. I have found that even if I'm driving aggressively with the accelerator I still get 50+ miles per gallon and if I'm in slow traffic it only uses the electric motor. It is also very quick and fast off the line I enjoy driving it and don't fill up but every 2 weeks.

Ioniq the Prius replacement

Everything seems very good so far with 1 year anniversary of ownership. My wife is the primary driver and I the secondary driver and the purchaser of the vehicle. The design of the exterior is very pleasing and I feel alittle sporty. The interior is great. Only one thing that is alittle upsetting is the larger dip in fuel economy in the winter, more than the previous Prius we owned.

Great car

The Ioniq Hybrid is a great car and does great on gas. Paint chips very easy and seats show every little stain. I like the car but I was expecting more for the money that I paid for the car. I still love Hyundai and feel that they are a great car company it just seems that the Ioniq was not there best effort.

2017 Iconic

Very impressed with the vehicle except for the defective part and the inconvenience it caused with only 60 miles on the car. I like the styling and the instrument layout that monitors the different functions of the vehicle, especially the hybrid engine/gas engine display. The auto gets great mileage averaging between 52mpg and 59mpg. The range per full tank of gas is about 636 miles..

A good hybrid car

I have used this car for about 8 months. The car is running well with no issues. The look is great. My son loves it. The electronic features are good. IPhone and Android phones connect easyly to the display. The milage is around 57 mpg in summer and 40 mpg in winter. The only feature I do not like is that the milage score gets reset to zero each time you fill the gas tank.
