Hyundai Elantra GT

The Car is great, I genuinely love it. The only thing about it that's weird is that when you take a bump at a high speed (25mph or more), the car feels a bit unstable until it is on even ground again. The car seems to be genuinely out of control for a few moments.

Nice all-around vehicle

I was in a bit of a crunch to purchase a new car after my old Saturn was totaled. I had previously driven the sedan version via Enterprise rental, so when it came time to purchase, Hyundai was on the top of my list. I sometimes have a bit of gear to carry so the drop down back seats and hatchback were very important. I also wanted it in red! I tested several others, including the Honda Fit, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius and Prius C, and a Scion hatchback, and the GT by far had all the features I wanted, looked nice and was fun to drive. So I managed to find it all in this car. Plus the long warranty and great ratings on Edmunds made this a win-win. Being previously owned I couldn't get some better interior features like a sunroof, built-in navigation and better audio console. If I had the money, I would have opted for the newer model, but overall I'm very happy

Small car great pick up

Love my GT -- except in the winter -- it is cute and fun to drive especially with the sun roof open -- have taken it to Myrtle Beach and the ride and gas mileage was great.

Great economy car for the money-sporty, nice lines, classy interior for the price, very roomy for a small car, hauled a concrete water fountain in it we found at a salvage place ----- nice to have the fold down seats!!!!!!! Little can be mighty

Mostly good, a little bad...Elantra GT

Good vehicle overall. Always excellent gas mileage. At 90,000 miles we have had no engine or drivetrain malfunctions. At 6'6" I have plenty of leg and head room. A bit cramped laterally but comfortable enough. Steering controls work great. Slap stick gear shift is useful. No problems except on the sport package with the sunroof, the wheels, the rims, are terrible. Low profile tires means you had better not hit any potholes or dips or you WILL bend the rim. We have had three rims fixed and had to replace two rims! Not to mention the tires as they have a tendency to develope a sidewall bulge. Not talking extreme hits, just normal driving. A manhole cover was inset in the street a couple of inches. Wheel went over it, tire flexed and release all the air pressure and the rim is now not true....again. Same car with steel rims and a "normal" profile tire would be perfect but these low profile rims just will not withstand normal American road driving. Repairs here are 125-175 for rim straightening, replacement of one these rims is about 500! Tires are 150 a piece! Also beware, if you get the glass roof you will not be able to install any kind of roof rack at all. I am hoping this vehicle will last as long as my Toyota, which runs like a top and has 235,000 miles...and no bent rims!

Great little car!

I needed a fuel-effiicient vehicle for my long daily commute. Trading in a big SUV for something this small was going to be tough and I didn't want to give up the bells and whistles and many of these small economy cars don't have all that....and this car had them! And the 100,000 mile warranty nailed it!

Mostly happy with my car

I get great MPG, the car is a comfortable ride. The only complaints I have is it came with crummy tires so it does not handle well in slushy or icy conditions. Also, there was a blockage in the AC that caused water to flood my interior. Never heard of that happening in any other brand of vehicle I have ever owned.

Get a lot of features for the money and style

Not as powerful engine as expected. For a 1.8 engine the car is starting slow and barely increase in speed. I was expecting more power for this car. Everything else is great. Get a lot of features for the money.

Elantra GT 2013 review

Excellent car overall. Handles well and I love the different steering levels. The full roof when open is great to look out of and my passengers also love the view. This is my first car with leather and heated seats and we love them.
