A tale of two Elantras

I had a 2013 Elantra GT, which I thought was a bit under powered. This new Elantra GT Sport is mostly what I wanted. I didn't get the tech package, because I don't really like sunroofs and most of my driving is around town, so don't really need (or like) the lane-control or auto braking. Anyway, this is a great car with two distinct modes: Regular and Sport (by button selection). Regular is ok and kinda sluggish at low speeds. Sport is on adrenaline the whole time!...Which is good and bad, and I wish the Sport button was on the steering wheel, because I'm often in-and-out of Sport, depending on the situation and all. Road noise is somewhat high. I'm a little concerned about tire wear with the low-profile tires (TBD). I LOVE the DCT....This is very very cool and gives a good, crisp shift every time. Overall love this car. Gas mileage hovers around 32 city/highway. We are going on a road trip soon and I expect the gas mileage to be mid-upper 30's(!)... One thing I noticed going from the conventional Elantra GT to the new Sport version is that I lost some trunk space. But it has a bigger tank + independent rear suspension so I guess *something* has to give. Love the full LED lighting. They did pinch a penny by not using LEDs inside the cabin. No big deal. I can fix that. Overall, lovin' this car!

Elantra GT packs a punch!

Love this car, downsized a bit from the 2013 Sonata back in October. I have to say love this car! Roomy, great design, quick and fun to drive. Living in the city this car makes it fun to zoom in and out of traffic with ease!

Quick car

Not a bad choice good on gas easy to park. But to get real value for your money buy the turbo model more fun!!! I wish it had more cargo room or a cargo rack. Sport mode really doesn't do much other than turn the screen orange ohhhh wow. I rather have less plastic that is smooth the leather looking plastic is a pain if you want to stick something to it like phone holder. I think phone holders should rebuild into the car as a standard item.

2018 Elantra GT

I owned a 2013 Elantra. Loved that car. After 103,000+ miles. it still ran great but I commute roughly 450 miles a week to work, so I purchased the 2018, same model, same color (black), however, the 2018 paint has a dull finish, and I was disappointed that it doesn't shine like my 2013. I don't like that there is no CD player offered, and I don't like the "keyless" ignition. The locking system is confusing. I do, however, like the fact that the gas tank is bigger in the 2018. Overall, it's a good little car, but I liked my 2013 better!

Thumbs up for the Hyundai Elantra GT!!!

I knew the first time I got behind the wheel that the Hyundai Elantra GT was the car for me. It has a very comfortable smooth ride. I love the looks of the vehicle. I think it has the appearance of a car that lists for two or three times the price. For a 4 cylinder vehicle, it has a lot of pickup!

Great Little Car

This is my 4th Elantra, my 2nd GT - fun little car and dependable too. I put a lot of road miles on it from my commute to and from work 45 miles one-way, 5 days a week. I never have to think twice about something going wrong. Love it.

No CD player

Wished it had a CD player, otherwise enjoy this hatchback. I can use it to carry my crafts. Great on long distant trip for gas mileage. I am not technology savvy, so some features I have not yet figured out. Like bluetooth feature.

Anemia is sad

The car I owned before the 18 Elantra was an 05 Tucson with a 2.8 litre 6 cylinder--and I'd still have it if a texting kid hadn't murdered her. That car, despite being an SUV, cornered like it was on rails and would FLY. Very handy for interstate driving when you dont want an 18 wheeler to crush you, lol. Hyundai's new line-up comprises vehicles that are super reliable, but that take the "fun" out of "fun"ctional. I tested all of the 18's, except Sonata (because I have a brain), and they were found lacking. H.P. isn't THAT different from years past, but they just do not handle or go like the 4 others I've owned over the years. I'm so sad?.

The 2018 Elantra GT review

The 2018 Elantra GT is a nice vehicle. I really like the Metallic Blue paint color, the backup camera view, the gas mileage and the ease of driving. I do not like the hard and uncomfortable drivers and passengers seating. I like the heated seats, but do not like the cabin heater. It’s difficult to get a comfortable temperature setting. I also wish it was possible to obtain a Factory Service Manual to help with adjustments, updates and accessories installation.

2018 Elantra GT Sport

It's my first Hyundai purchase. Really fun little car. Its price seems to be lower than Toyota and Honda of the same class. Though, its value seem to depreciate very quickly. I'm not an expert, I may be wrong. I haven't own a hyundai long enough to judge on reliability but most hyundai owners told me that they are. We'll have to see in time.

Great car

This is a fun little car to drive and still has plenty of room for gear. The hatchback makes it easy to load and unload. Sport mode offers the ability to keep up with traffic in the big city as well. Cons: terrible in the snow, may just need better tires than the ones that came with it. Little low on gas mileage as well but still reasonable.

My little gas saver.

My GT is perfect for me, it helps me save the gas that I need when I am going on my trips. I don't ever have to use my phone when I am driving and that is my major plus because I need to stay in contact with my children. I love that my GT is fully load and the heated seats are a lifer saver. I love the decision that I made with my GT.

Not as good as my 2014 model

Electronics are Shakey, brakes are marginal, they need to improve in these areas. It has an rough idle on start up intermittently, the service dept can't track it down. The traffic detection system has gone down a few times but never when it can be seen by the service department.

My Choice

This is 2nd Elantra GT owned, 1st was a 2013, it was Silver - very sharp vehicle My thoughts are that the 2013 engine/exhaust sound was better. It was responsive vehicle when needed, not sure if 2018 is as quick off the line The 2018 handles well The 2013 had a CD player, the 2018 does not - not at all happy about that Do like the back-up camera of the 2018 Purchased the bright blue color for the 2018, should have stayed with the bright Silver The personal temp adjust for cabin air is wonderful in 2018, set and press "GO" Am happy with fold-down rear seat Like the wheels Over-all think the 2018 is a good vehicle but should not have bought the blue

Confor of seats.! Bad

style and design very miderno.! fun to handle it. the only bad thing is ... their front seats. They are not comfortable. very bad quality.! if they want more happy people with these cars, they have to be better with the comfort of the seats, because I think that is the main thing when driving

Love my GT

The Elantra GT is a fantastic commuter. Comfortable and practical. Easy to drive. Could use a little more power, but overall is a great car. The front area is spacious, and the features are very nice an easy to operate. Surprisingly the rear sitting area is also very good for hatchback. The cabin noise level is a big improvement compared with the previous Elantra GT generation. I will like having more power, and a better suspension set up,. meaning more feeling of control, particulary over 50 mph, but this is not a sport or race carat all, The exterior looks is nice, sporty, and resembles the european style hatchbacks with a pricey tag, like a Volvo, or VW Golf. In general, I love my GT.

Peppy little suv

Very peppy and lots of get up and go. Love the cargo cover and split seats. Very easy to drive. Bought new forva great price. Love the color and performance. Took a long trip and it excelled on mileage and comfort.

Fun car, maybe needs a little maturing

Fun car with lots of features. The Sport version with the 1.6 turbo is super quick, with just a little bit of turbo lag that can be annoying at times. Love how the car looks and it's fun to drive. At low speeds, the transmission seems to glitch and will be delayed getting into gear. At the dealership they told me it's like that with dual clutch transmissions and I'm wondering if this is something that can be improved. I would also love to see a larger engine version. Fuel efficiency is great, I get ~27mpg on average with lots of city driving. I don't understand why I don't see this car more, I hope they don't discontinue it.
