Ok

I love all the regular features on all Hyundai vehicles, plus the heated seats and the lane change warnings that were extra. The seats are terribly uncomfortable though and iare giving me back problems.

Subpar city mileage and constant wind noise

Fun to drive, and good highway mileage, but numerous issues. Two weeks after purchasing the car, the seal on the front window began lifting and they had to take the car for about a week while Hyundai engineers looked at the issue. If you get a quarter-glass panel broken by someone, no dealers or mechanics have this model in stock. Quite a wait for a new one to come in. The front driver and passenger windows occasionally start sliding down while driving. There is constant wind noise over 50mph from the seal between the door and frame. Brakes feel quite soft, even brand new.

Elantra GT Sport

The exterior and interior styling is sharp. The leather seats are comfortable and when they are heated it feels great in the winter. The engine and 6 speed transmission are more than enough to get you up to speed quickly. Android auto integration is great and works well. There is plenty of room in the back seat for kids. Aside from the mechanical issues my car has had, its been a good car.

Great car with lots of technology.....

When I was shopping for a new car. I had three must haves. A real spare tire, heated seats and a rear view camera. Only the Hyundai Elantra had these features for this vehicle class. Not Honda, Not Toyota... The only weak link is the engine. After doing some research. It seems the engine is plagued with whats know as "engine ticking". It seems the pistons slap on the cylinder walls and eventually will lead to engine failure. I have a little over 8000 miles and am experiencing this issue now. Hopefully this vehicle lineup will get a complete revamp of the engine design.

DCT

This car has a terrible DCT transmission. My GT sport is slipping and jerking from 1st to 2nd gears. I have taken it to the dealership and was told that the problem was corrected but, that isn’t true. Hopefully Hyundai can fix this issue otherwise my business will go to another brand.

A fan of Hyundai

Disappointed with my last visit at the service department. Service department do not have a clue on how to fix my windshield wiper and lied about checking my breaks. My problem is that it grind and make noise and they said there is nothing wrong with it and sure enough it was not fix.

2018 Elantra GT could be better

The 2018 Elantra GT is a pretty good car. The one I got had pretty near all the features I wanted except for three important features that should be on every new car. The first feature it should have is LED headlamps, mines had LED Daytime Running Lamps but halogen headlights. Second feature should be light auto dimming rear view mirror. Third should be Homelink programmable security gate/ garage door opener. The car itself is ok, acceleration is very good. But the thing I most don’t like about the car is steering, there’s a lag when you turn the car that should not be there. It’s not as good as a Mazda in steering to wheel contact and movement. You have constantly adjust when driving to stay straight and in turns. Good thing I leased this car. I will be heading back to Mazda When this lease is over. I used to shuttle cars for Hertz Rental at the airport and drove Kias to Porsches and many brands in between, I know what I’m talking about, this car would be good for a young family because of the warranty and pricing but not someone who’s been driving for 50 years, me.

You get what you paid for.

In general it's OK car. But random power loss during acceleration is not acceptable. Problem with the starter in a 2 years old car, which dealer can not fix is a nonsense. Car does not have its own GPS, but it is OK. The need to connect my phone to infosistem with USB wire is not OK. Bluetooth?

I was considering a KIA because of the warranty, but when Hyundai came out with the Elantra GT, it had the same power train, same warranty, and is much better looking.

Looks great and is fun to drive

The interior is very nice, controls are convenient, heated seats are great in the winter, smartphone connections to the display are easy to use. I have an aftermarket remote starter that can also be controlled by my phone and is integrated with the rear defroster and driver's side heated seats, works great.

My Elantra GT

So fare I am pleased with the car it has a large screen for backup and other features that I like. Very good on the safety devices . The hatchback area could be a little larger its a tight squeeze for my Golf clubs. Really like the metallic silver color.

Good value

This is my second Elantra GT. The car is a lease. I preferred the stying and features of the 2015. A comparable package for 2018 was way out of line for upgraded features. I thought the time spent at the dealership was way too long. Paperwork was submitted to DMV was incorrect. I was supposed to receive a gift card, I never did.

18 Elantra GT

The 2018 Elantra GT is a surprising car in its class. It delivers a higher quality of comfort and design than what would be expected to come from Hyundai. The primary car I would compare the Elantra to would be the Civic from Honda. The GT Sport that I own would be closest to a Civic SI. Comparing the two the civic is louder in design and characteristic however the Elantra is by far the most mature. It comes at a better price point and the fact that it has physical HVAC controls, instead of burying them in a touch screen menu, is one of the largest swing points for me buying the car over it's competitor. The engines have similar peppy characteristics. However the elantra definitely comes with a better exhaust note. The weaknesses of the car would be the clutch, the non-premium sound system, and the center storage compartment. The clutch is extremely light, grabs quickly, and inconsistently. Aggressive driving is rewarded with the smell of burning clutch material. It doesn't slip but it isn't happy that it's being driven hard. Along the line of this the hill assist can't be turned off and if you're not used to it will cause you to stall the car rather than go. The sound system must be EQ'd with a heavy amount of base and mid boost not to sound tinny and cheap. Once done it does sound pretty decent for a factory 6 speaker system. The only issue with the center storage compartment in the dash below the HVAC controls is that the feedback for when you've pressed the door hard enough to open and close it is non-existent. I constantly feel like I'm going to break it and often won't push it hard enough for it to work.

Suspension not as good as past Hyundais

Although I've been buying Hyundai since 1993, this is the first model I haven't felt cornered like it was on rails. Also, the overall trend in vehicles away from horsepower makes them less comfortable to drive on interstate highways. That said, in its class, the Elantra GT has the best acceleration and is still fun to drive.

Nice car

We are enjoying driving it. It has plenty of power. We are enjoying all the upgraded features that it has, especially the heated and cooled seats. Also the adapted, smart cruise control. The larger navigation screen is very nice.

Fun car to drive!

Great hatchback with many features. It's fun to drive and saves gas. I'm averaging 32 mpg! I like the sporty look and the 8" touchscreen LCD. The styling is nice and provides comfortable rides even with it's 17" low profile tires.
