Happy Hyundai Owners

We are very satisfied Hyundai customers. That is why we have purchased an Azera, a Genesis and a Sonata in the last 10 years.

Back Bumper

My 2013 genesis has less than 30,000 miles. The back bumper has rust looking spots surfacing through the paint. The bottom part of the bumper has spots where the outer coating of the paint is bubbling up and peeling off. Sad that Hyundai manufacturer will not replace my bumper at no cost. Such a classy car with an I don’t care attitude by the company. I got an estimate of approximately 1200.00 to replace it, however, financially, I can’t get it fixed. I bought the millineum insurance for it to find out it doesn’t cover plastic (which the bumper is made of)!!! It was submitted to Hyundai, and they only offered to pay half!!! I would really think hard before I bought another Hyundai. Sad but true. Eileen Fox

Known transmission slippage problems Genesis doesn’t have fix

Great looking vehicle inside and out! However, the car has known transmission slippage problems that cause the car to slam into gear between 2nd and 3rd gear and 5th and 6th. Genesis knows about this problem and say it’s the computer software isn’t talking correctly to the transmission. They say software update $1000 might repair it, however, online people that did that say it made it worse. It would be nice if companies took care of their customers when a vehicle has known major problems. They should have recalled this to be fixed but it was swept under the rug!

Hyundai Genesis

I loved this car since I saw it on TV. I had a Sonata and the Sonata came with more features than the Genesis. My Genesis is not the top of the line but it is a upgrade from the Sonata and I have none of the online features the Sonata had. Smartphone packages online to select from is the Sonata to top of the line because once I saw I had none of these features made me want to go back the Sonata

2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Touring

I purchased my 2013 Genesis Coupe 3.8 in the fall of 2012; the style of the coupe is very attractive as is the interior; power is more than ample; in fact, the torque is so strong that the car spins on gravel all the time and is useless in snow. Road handling is excellent; seats are comfortable and the car is excellent for long distance touring as long as one does not try to drive in snow. Trunk space is adequate for most purposes. The radio reception can be spotty--I live in the mountains and even cell service can be interrupted but was disappointed in the ability of the radio to pick up FM stations; the navigation touch screen is a constant irritant, often failing to respond; actual navigation often is way off the mark; I ended up not using the touch screen very much because it was so "touchy." Other touch switches were difficult to use as well. In spite of these issues, had Hyundai provided awd with the coupe I might have considered getting another one; as it is, I opted for a 2016 Lexus RC 300 F Sport, a car which has less power than the Genesis but which spools up very quickly and is powerful enough to move through traffic quickly; it also has awd; haven't had it long enough to determine how the various options--the model is loaded--work. I had no mechanical problems with the Genesis but did encounter difficulty with the undercarriage cover; the car is so low, it has never met a curb it did not attack; had to replace the undercarriage cover at a cost of over $1,000; there were no front sensors on the car to warn about the curb issue; one should park at least six inches or more from any curb. Visibility to the back is limited due to the coupe styling but if one likes coupes, and I do, then you accept this; back sensors were helpful; no back-up camera on this model. Replaced all four tires at about 26,000 miles--one tends to want to drive this car hard and on mountain roads which are never straight, this takes a toll on tires.

Loved my Genesis for the first year

I loved my Genesis for the first year. After that, it started to fall apart, especially the interior. The seats wore very poorly, the carpeting on the interior shows the wear and tear as well. I've had continual issues with the bluetooth and no one can seem to help. When I call other people from my bluetooth there is a constant echo. The exterior, especially the bumper, looks dull and cheap. Not impressed considering the price I paid.

2013 Genesis

Great car with the exception of the passenger seat. You feel like you are sitting on the floor. No option to changed the seat out either, big mistake by Hyundai. Car performs well, good gas mileage. Had a problem with it stalling out while driving, but the dealership has tried to correct the problem. We will see how that goes.

Mechanically a good car - BUT

I have a 2013 Genesis bought new in 2014. mechanically a very good car. The electrical issues have totaled three issues, and one issue resulted into three trips to the dealer, almost has to invoke the California Lemon Law. The last electrical issue has been addressed with a new part. The computer screen keeps freezing, but cannot re-create at the dealership more trips? Also, the retractable side mirrors do not return to use position - had to get the drive side console switch replaced. That issue had a another problem - the windows could not be lowered from the driver side console. The vehicle has only 31K miles.

Good car... horrible value

The 2013 Genesis is a good car I haven't had any mechanical problems with the vehicle yet, it's roomie and it rides great. With that being said, I bought the vehicle a little over a year ago for 20,000 dollars, I looked the value of the vehicle up on KBB an it says the vehicle is only worth 9800 now, mind you I've only had the vehicle for a year, it's in the extact condition as it was when I bought it but now it has 15000 more miles. If I was to ever buy another Genesis i would have to get an extremely good deal, due to the fact I know it doesn't hold its value.

Engine Starting Problem

I love every thing about my Genesis R-Spec, meaning; very comfortable, nice handling around corners and on the highway and love the power. The only negative I have is for the engine starting problem I've been having since I purchased vehicle new on November 15, 2013.

Overall Evaluation of 2013 Hyundai Genesis by Original Owner

As the purchaser of a new Genesis our experience was excellent. The vehicle performed very well for the first 25,000 to 30,000 miles. At that point it developed a noticeable "engine miss" during cold warm-up. Every time, without exception after that, the engine misfired while backing up out of our garage while partially applying the brake to go slowly to avoid touching the garage door framework under "fast idle" due to it being a cold start. Several trips to Beaverton Hyundai to have the situation evaluated were frustrating as the technicians were unable to "duplicate the condition". They found,"No problem found, normal for vehicle." How a vehicle could operate perfectly for the first 25,000 miles and then suddenly have a very pronounced "miss during cold start/operation" is hard to figure out when the written evaluation from the technician is that the vehicle operates, "normal". There is nothing normal about the obvious miss/chugging experienced inside the vehicle every time the vehicle is started after it cools off over night.

2013 Genesis

Purchased new in 2013, although it was driven by a manager and had 1100 miles on it. Overall the driveability and comfort are very good, but should be for a $45,000 car. However, this particular car has had several very annoying issues over the years. At 9 months, it wouldn't start one morning. After a week of troubleshooting, a broken wire was found that was very likely damaged during manufacture (according to the service writer). This could have been a very bad situation had it occurred during our 3000 mile trip we took a month prior to that. Not long after that, the alternator failed. Then the intermittent stuff started. The right rear parking sensor would quite often, but not always, beep although there was nothing there, and continue to beep every time the car dipped below 5 MPH. Then a few months later, the driver's window controls started intermittently failing to work. Of course, neither of these problems would fail when taking it to the dealer. A couple years ago, it got so bad that they finally agreed to fix both problems even though they couldn't replicate them in the shop. All of these issues were covered under warranty and luckily they all happened close to home and the dealer, but for the money paid for the car, I expected better quality. I have a Toyota Rav4 with 100,000 miles on it and have never had to take it to the dealer. The Genesis is doing fine now, but I am not looking forward to the warranty running out. I expect that when I replace the Genesis, it will be with a Toyota.

2013 genesis

Rough riding. Engine, wind and road noise unacceptable Rides like a go cart compared to my XG350 I had prior to this car. The quality of this vehicle does not come close in comparison to the XG. I had driven Grand Marquis' for years prior to buying the XG. I bought the Genesis thinking this vehicle would be comparable.to the grand marquis in ride and comfort. The XG Is still on the road with 293,000 miles. Don't make them like that any more.

Satisfied.

Enjoying the car! However have not been for the warranty it would be a different response thought. Cause its under 75k miles and had to replace two high dollar major parts. I've owned Mercedes and BMW.
