Could be better

The car looks great. The car is fun to drive. Don't take it through the car wash though because drive becomes reverse due to rear tail lights that fail to keep water out. When you have a $50,000 car that you can't drive for two weeks while it sits in the shop with Hyundai techs who had no idea how to fix it. That to me is an EPIC fail.

Not too happy with this caliber of vehicle. There are a few features I love and don't want to get another vehicle without these things. I'm happy I leased this car and did not purchase it.

Genesis 5.0 is an excellent powerful vehicle and very well appointed with all required safety improvements. Only complaint is the 8 speed transmission which is constantly downshifting and creates a lurching when driving in the 30-40 mph range on hilly roads. Will not replace a future vehicle choice with a Genesis unless the transmission is upgraded and/or replaced with a smoother transmission and acceleration flow.

The thrill is gone

Bought this thinking it could be a BMW for about 15 k less. It’s been a very ho hum up to now. Its heavy(gas hog) the gearing is terrible especially first, it’s AWD but God Awful in inclement weather. I am 2 years into a 3 year lease and can’t wait to let it go. Inside has all the bells and whistles that work great but so what. I wanted a sport sedan and got stuck with grandmas LTD. go with what you know. Next time I will.

Just ok

Bought this car with 9,000 miles on it in 2016. At first, all good. After a couple of months, paint chips started flaking off on hood. Took back to dealer and they "touched up". Two weeks later flakes peeled off. Front end looks vad. Then the sensors around car starting going off randomly. Would be sitting at a traffic light with no car in front or beside me and warning sensors would start going off. Again, randomly with no rhyme or reason. Tech's couldn't replicate so no work ever performed. Then 2 cabin noises started. Fluttering sound coming from somewhere in engine area when driving between 25-30 mph. Again, techs said they couldn't replicate so no work ever performed. And severe friction rubbing sound started coming from sunroof area every time I drove on any surface except very smooth. Techs said it was due to dry seal around sunroof and they added solvent to "moisturize" it. Did not help. Continues severe rubbing today. Spent $40,000 on car and wish I hadn't. Will not this mistake again.

somewhat disappointed

nice car in appearance and comfort, but lacks some things I thought would be standard like a back up alarm. There is a sensor for when the transmission is in reverse, but it only beeps if another vehicle is approaching. There is a seat belt alarm for the driver, but only a light for the passenger.

I am not sure what to write here, except that the Genesis its self is a beautiful car and you do get a lot of options for the price... I like that you get all the luxury of the highline cars like the BMW or Mercedes for 15-20k less

Genesis

I like my vehicle, but I have had some problems that have been addressed. Heres a tip: When you completely make over a vehicle from the previous year, PLEASE make sure you have all the bugs worked out. I have had my radio replaced twice, I have had my whole speedometer cluster replaced, and my clock has been replaced. These are some things that should work and not have to be replaced.

Several little issues

I really enjoy my 2015 Genesis V8 and the options it offers for the price, but I’ve had too many little issues with loose equipment, vibration noises, light and window seals that I haven’t experienced on other Getman luxury vehicles I have had. It’s been the things I’ve listed previously, but there are other things that I have had issues with that I feel wouldn’t be an issue had I bought another luxury vehicle Genesis claims to compete with. Therefore, my Genesis has spent more time in the repair area of the dealership than I desire.

2015 genesis

great looking with many extras. engineering is suspect so i dont really trust the car to perform well. air bag system broke, many electrical hiccups stopped the car 6 times thinking i got rear ended. it must be the transmission. feel like someone hit the back bumper with a sledge hammer. service really tried to fix it but it did not give a code or check engine light. ,

This is a very nice vehicle. The only problem buying a Hyundai is, they do not hold there value. My Genesis lost a value of $15,000 a year. So, do your homework and wait to get as many incentives as possible to avoid the dreaded words “upside down “.

Ownership experience

The Genesis G80 is overall a great car. You can't beat the value for your money. It definitely needs improvement. Hopefully the 20/20 model year is a much better car. I recommend 30 of these car to friends and family. They all loved their Genesis.

I have enjoyed my 2015 Genesis. It is a beautiful, comfortable car. Fortunately the service department, especially Peter Espinoza at Dublin Hyundai has successfully addressed any issues I have had with the car.

I loved my 2013 Genesis; however someone hit it rather severely so I decided to buy a new one. The 2015 has not performed as well as the 2013 because it has had multiple small things go wrong. It is true that all were covered under warranty; however, it is not always easy to get to a Hyundai dealer when traveling.

Poor AM radio reception and noisy at high speeds.

Love the car except for a couple of issues. Mine has very poor AM radio reception when near power lines or under freeway overpasses. Also I get a fluttering sound at high speeds on the passenger side that has not been repaired yet. Other than this the car is just great and I enjoy driving and riding in it.
