Early model woes.
I love my vehicle, a 2015 Hyundai Genesis w/H-Trac AWD in Monticeto Blue. I've had it over a year now and it's great, not perfect... But definitely great. The one concern I am experiencing is my cars battery fails. I have had to call for roadside three times over the course of a couple months. I would turn my car off, the lights go out automatically, and everything is off. Yet, when I return to my car... It won't start, it won't even make a sound. My warning lights and messages go bonkers and it takes fine fiddling to just get the car back to off again. The dash warning lights will stay on and cycle through the warnings even AFTER the car indicates the ignition is fully off. Today was the third time. The first time was when I was in a drive through. The warning systems all went bonkers, bells chiming and lights flashing like its a runway of lights. My car was stuck in drive. My car stalled, I was firmly stuck and my car simply would not respond. Finally, after pushing the start/stop button, it allowed me to shift to natural but not park. At that point, I did a hard restart so the systems would reboot. Finally the car started again but before I got the attention of the drive through noticing I was stalled in the drive through and them yelling at me to get the car out of here. The other two times was just as much a pain in the bahookie but it was when I was in a parking lot. Dash lights go loony and the car won't respond. The first time my car died, I was able to get it going. The second and third time required I call for a jump.
Please don't take this the wrong way. This example I have was built during the very first production run. Everyone knows newly minted cars do experience bugs which get ironed out after the bugs show up.
Other than my electrical system doing it's nonsense, the vehicle is flawless. Runs really strong. It's super safe. In fact, because of the safety systems, my car saved me from a near nasty crash. A driver pulled out into my path from a bank as I was approaching. She popped out of the parking lot smack dab in my path then... For reasons unknown to me, she slammed on her brakes the second she was on the road for no apparent reason. I was going 36 in a 40. Thank goodness I'm a defensive driver but better yet, thank goodness for my cars emergency stop system. By time I even lifted my foot off the gas to apply the brakes, and I'm not slow, the car had already slammed on the brakes before my foot even touched the brake peddle. It all happened so fast but my e-stop was much much faster.
I highly recommend the Genesis with the safety systems onboard. It just might save you from a serious crash or save you from a crash all together, depending on your speed and other factors.
The Genesis is safe, great looking, very comfortable, and very very roomy. This is my 5th Hyundai. I intend on buying Hyundai anytime I get a car.
Hyundai cars, they were bad cars back in the day. However, now they are kicking bum, showing the world how they improved, and beating out stalwarts such as Honda and even Toyota. You won't be disappointed with a new Genesis... or any Hyundai for that matter.
