Best Car for the Money

The Genesis G80 and G90 are on par with the Mercedes, Audi, and BMW when it comes to style, functionality, features, comfort, etc. I found that I can have all the luxury of the other well known brand cars for less of the cost in the Genesis. Driving it is always fun especially when I put it in sport mode. Can't wait to upgrade in a few years to a newer model. Well done Hyndai! I would of given it five stars but I believe the suspension could be better and the cabin noise could be reduced.

Not worth the money

It has lost a lot of value in one year and the car has nagging problems that there are no solutions for. I would not buy this car again.

Very very nice vechicle but I have had to to take it to the shop for 3 different major issues which is a lot within one year..For the money spent on the high level vehicle I expect more from a quality level.

Transmission

I have issues with the transmission it goes in and out of gear. I brought it in but they couldn’t duplicate the problem. This is my third Genesis but in 2016 they didn’t have a 5 O so I settled with a 6 cylinder

Genesis 2016

Great looking car inside and out. Drives smooth and comfortably. The engine is quick and reliable. Roomy for large men if driving. Okay interior space for tall people otherwise. Definitely a challenge to drive if you are short. I’m five three and I have a difficult time with blind spots. The seat is not designed for short people. The interior leather is very disappointing and is already breaking down and ripping in places. I am extremely good to my cars and do not like this. The stereo system is completely outdated. It is designed for an iPod and will not work properly when using an iPhone. I was told that there is not an update to fix this problem. Voice recognition system is terrible.

Great entry level luxury car!

The vehicle comes with a nice ride, but lacks power, especially from 0-60, but understandable with having a big car with a small engine. I feel the dashboard styling could use a little updating. Genesis needs to get away from Hyundai's touch screen and come out with their own touch screen system. Overall I like my 2016 Genesis, but I'm unsure if I would return to Hyundai for another lease. I believe Genesis is biting more off than they can chew with the price increase. The genesis G80 is way over priced at $60k. For that price the G80 should come with more options, ie. rims, engine, interior styling. I feel the exterior is nice than the interior.

2016 Genesis Review

As I stated above, I have liked many features of the Genesis and believe it's a good value for the price, however, the problems I've experienced with the electronics, especially the blind spot, have made me less enthusiastic about this particular car. Apparently the problem with electronics in the 2016 was corrected with the 2017 and 2018 model year. I have friends with a 2017 Genesis who have no issues with their car. I have previously stated other problems with electronics with my Genesis, and it would be redundant to state them again.

GENESIS

Side view mirror in for service once and new part was ordered and installed. Mirror fell out again. New mirror was ordered and installed again. So far so good. This is our second genesis. The first one was a 2009 and was an excellent car. Wish I would have kept it. The 2016 is a good car. it drives and handles well. Power is good. Seats could be more comfortable. They are adequate but not as comfortable as other cars we have owned. I will likely buy another Genesis or Hyundai but won't lease again. I was told that it would be cheaper but I don't believe it.

Happy and Sad

Very happy with the ride, heated seats, heated steering wheel and many other amenities in the car. The lease price was really great, probably because it was a new car on the market. Not so happy about the non-power trunk which I understand is now available in the newer vehicles. One really bad feature is the navigation about which I can only say, Google the address before you leave home. This is a serious problem and I speak from experience, this navigation system is not good. Preferred driving settings should be retained, for example if Economy setting is picked it should be retained, instead the system always returns to regular setting at each start-up

2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Sedan Review

Good car, fairly well built, not up to MBZ or Audi, but good. Better than Buick. I would compare it more to a Buick. Poor MPG, poor throttle response, poor transmission shift response. A poser, wanna be, not there yet, could be, possibly. Need a better corporate attitude, they need to listen better and respond to their customers, or they will lose what they haven't acquired yet - a brand loyal customer base.

Not Impressed

I thought I purchased a high end luxury vehicle. The car has been omitting a foul odor since I purchased the car back in October. When I run the diagnostic on blue link it tells me to service the EPB.The dealership tells me they cleared the code on a previous visit. I was expecting more.

Gorgeous car...but complicated tech, and issues with driver's seat frame and support.

I just took my 2016 Genesis in for the third time to replace the broken plastic frame that supports the driver's seat. Yesterday, as I left the car, the seat support cracked again..I'm not that heavy..This is 4 times now.

For the price, leaves something to be desired.

The car itself LOOKS gorgeous!!! This car can definitely get out of it's own way. It's only 3 yrs old and needed cosmetic repair for cracking and breaking trim, knobs, and handle. My question is if it's not even 3yrs old, what's gonna happen in another 3 yrs??? The seats themselves, even though they are leather feel cheap to sit in. I feel like I'm sitting in our old $20,000 sonata,not a $40,000 car!!

Build Quality

Overall we really like the genesis. The ride is great, the vehicle has good power, the vehicle appearance inside and out is excellent, etc. What I find disappointing is the number of warranty issues I have had with the vehicle. While many of the problems have been minor, I would not expected this from Hyundai’s flagship vehicle with only 52,000 miles on the odometer. I had far better experience. As I approach the end of the warranty, I hope all the issues will go away. My comments only apply to the vehicle; O’Brien Hyundai has been excellent to work with.

Beautiful looking vehicle with shoddy hardware integrity.

After reading the positive reviews and admiring this beautiful vehicle, I leased my Genesis in August of 2016. After driving it for over a year now, I am satisfied with its performance and safety features. As a senior, I find the technology, especially the Nav system more complicated than intuitive. The big disappointment has been the interior hardware. I'm about 210 pounds and the plastic drivers side underneath support has broken twice, causing me a couple of long days at the service department. I have never owned a car where I had to so gingerly exit and enter so that the plastic seat support would not shatter again. A couple of weeks ago, on a long road trip the seat belt assembly just came apart as well. When my wife went to buckle up, the tongue of the belt that goes into vehicle anchor popped out and couldn't be re-inserted creating a dangerous driving situation over 200 miles from home. If anyone reading this review can get me out of last 15 months of my lease of this shoddy machine, you will have a friend for life.

It’s NOT a Mercedes

Horrible build quality for a luxury brand, squeaks and rattles since day one, especially in my glass roof (primary reason for my purchase) like the one in my Mercedes! No fix per Hyundai corporate. Rattle continues, and I was told by Hyundai “it’s not a Mercedes”! Only it cost $10,000 MORE than my Mercedes
