Great looking car, a few issues

-Love the looks, features and performance -A few interior rattles from drivers door and the hood doesn't fit (uneven gaps side to side) -Color of charge port door different shade than rest of car (cosmic blue) -Plug and Charge ISO15118 doesn't work despite the toggle being enabled on the infotainment. However there is no way on the app to enable it (and yes I have Hyundai Pay enabled, etc). Going on various online forums it seems that this is a common issue for all 2026 owners. Please fix this with an OTA update to the app and/or vehicle if ncessary. -On the limited, would be great to have seat massage (like ID4) instead of the relaxation/recline feature. I dont find it comfortable to use and dont get much value out of it.

Ioniq5 is a great choice

Like the look, the way it drives, ease of use, easy to charge, and good range. Lots of room in back seat.

Solid family car

Overall very happy with the car though it comes with some feature quirks. Good amount of space with USB-C ports in thoughtful places. Happily, there's a lot of physical controls throughout. There's a lot of configurability on all the warnings and drive styles and the UI seems pleasant. Some nitpicks: I wish there was walk-away door locks. I wish the profile selection was faster - it's about 5s before I can switch profiles to change the seat position. I'm annoyed by accessory mode since I can't open the window or turn on the a/c. I

Stylish and long range on battery!

We leased this Ioniq 5 SEL after our Ioniq 6 Limited lease ended. We miss some of the standard Limited features which negatively impacts our enjoyment of this I5, and we really did not gain any interior space as the two vehicles have about the same exterior diminsions. In fact, it's a bit harder to enter and exit the rear two seats in the I5 as compared to the I6! Overall, it's a good vehicle and we are not unhappy with it. We just liked the I6 Limited better. There were no Ioniq 6s available in February of 2026 in the USA, as far as I could tell.

The Hyundai EV That Made Our Family 'Go Electric' is Almost Perfect

Going into 2026 we knew that we were ready to switch to an EV. The competition pool for the IONIQ 5 is small compared to combustion engines at the same size, but it is fierce! We needed good range, a sporty drive, top-of-class safety, and maximum comfort/luxuries at an affordable price-point in a lease. Our biggest concern with the IONIQ 5 was the potential of ICCU failure and the reports of poor experience when owners had to deal with that issue. Luckily, we have not yet had to deal with an ICCU replacement. So far, our IONIQ 5 has offered everything we asked for, with some minor annoyances. Our main complaints include: an overly-sensitive parking assist system, a terrible EV-charging navigation system, a lackluster audio system, multiple software grievances, fragile paint, and VERY bad windshield wipers for it being a brand-new vehicle.

Almost perfect - some things are missing

There are a couple of things missing that would get this car the perfect rating. One is the ability to set driver profiles. It sort of has driver profiles - but they only apply to the entertainment system. What is missing is a driver profile that adjusts seats and mirrors and climate to each driver. Also, I like regen braking set to level 4, my wife prefers level 3. That setting should also be saved in the driver profile. The other major thing that is missing is that the doors do not automatically lock when you walk away with the key fob in your pocket/purse. The 2025 Ioniq5 had this feature - why was it lost in the 2026?

Plagued by unfortunate paper cuts

This EV is almost good. If it had been designed to be a pure EV, it could even be great. But it is plagued by paper cuts left and right that leave it firmly in the "below average" territory. Here are just a few examples: 1. It doesn't remember that max-regen. You have to re-enable it every time you start the car or shift into drive. 2. If you're hitting the brakes when you try to enable max-regen (which you do often because that's when you notice the car is dangerously regen'ing less), it won't let you. 3. It has a on/off button. If you forget to hit this button when you park, you cannot lock the car. And you cannot turn it off nor lock it from the app when you inevitably do this. Other EVs do without this button and they are a dramatically better user experience. But even just allowing shut off and locking from the app would be a huge improvement and is currently a baffling oversight (or an intentional one so they don't have to make the app work too differently from ICE vehicles). 4. They nickel-and-dime on features among the trim levels and from year to year. For example, I bought a 2026 model before there were many details published about which features each trim level had. So I went off of the 2025 details and thought I was getting a phone key feature. But they removed it from my trim level for 2026. Frustrating. 5. Sometimes when you forget to turn the car off (amazing how easy this is when you can't hear / feel an engine running), it drains the 12v battery and you might be stranded. I'm not sure what the specific circumstances are that cause this, but since it's always possible you always have to worry about it.

Love my Ioniq 5

I look forward to getting into my Ioniq 5 whenever I need to go anywhere. It’s such a pleasure. I love the smooth, quiet ride and all the things it does (I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface). It’s also VERY roomy and whenever people sit in the back seat they always comment about how comfortable it is. I have had several people stop and asked what kind of car it is. The tricky thing is going out of town because you really need to map out how and where you are going to need to charge especially going to more rural areas. That said, I even took the car to rural Mississippi and it all worked out fine once I figured out the public charging situation.

Temecula Hyundai Aftermarket Alterations Damaged My Car

My door locks are malfunctioning after 12v battery drainage due to dealer installed after market security system completed on delivery to lot. I didn’t ask for it or know it was there. Service claimed to fix the issue but locks are still cycling when car is in motion. I’m still awaiting GM response for requested documentation and goodwill service/compensation. Vehicle has less than 4k miles.

Almost great car.

There are so many things I like about this car, and only a few that I don't. For me, as a shorter driver (5'5) the car fits great. The visibility is awesome, the seat height is great, the size, shape and position of the armrest (and window sills) fit me really well. I also love that it's pretty easy to get one with a light color interior! My last two vehicles only came in solid black interiors and it was depressing. The overall ride quality, handling, and quietness of the I5 is very good. The software can be a little flaky sometimes but nothing serious. Android Auto integration worked perfectly from day one. Fit and finish could use some improvement. I don't feel that all four doors are aligned like they should be - the driver door especially. Too much force to close it (even when other doors/windows are open) and the sense that the driver door drops down about 1mm when it's being opened. The cabin has some interior creaks/noises going over uneven surfaces sometimes. Too bad because it's a very quite car and these little panel noises stand out. It don't care for the way some things are implemented, such as certain settings are cleared just by putting the car in reverse and then again in drive. I also really dislike the auto-hatch release. It takes a full 7-8 seconds of you standing there like a ninny waiting for the hatch to open; a motion sensor (foot waive, for example) would've been better. The manufacturer seems unable to be fully honest and transparent about the ICCU problem. If they truly can't fix it, can they at least improve the software detection of the problem and give you some head's up that it could be happening soon? I really like the combination of some touch features and some physical buttons. I like the infotainment system overall, and the car's only voice support. I find it hard to see the markings on the climate control strip in the daylight, but you get used to this. For 2026, although they advertise a big "rebate" what really happened is they stripped a lot of good and useful features out of the SEL model. This is a real shame as some of those features were potentially very useful, such as heated steering wheel, newer safety software, etc. If you want those, you're gonna have to pony up another $5K Some of the exterior bumper pieces seem to mark up really easily from stones, etc.

Excellent EV with one serious flaw.

This is my second Ioniq 5. The first was a 2003 rear wheel drive extended range. The second is a 2006 with the same configuration. Major differences on include addition of a rear window wiper and loss of folding mirrors. For the most part the car has not changed a lot. It is a wonderful piece of the chnology with one major flaw. Starting in 2005 Hyundai decided to include a driver monitoring system that cannot be turned off or adjusted. You now will receive notices in the dashboard suggesting you take a coffee break even if you have only been driving for 5 minutes. This is very annoying and in my opinion is a distraction diminishing safety rather than improving it. If Hyundai does not allow me to turn off this "feature" I will look for a different option when this lease is up.
