Fantastic car

This car is generally excellent, both in design and execution. In my opinion, it deserves every one of the many international awards it received. There was one fairly common issue that I know of (and experienced): the failure of the ICCU to maintain charge on the 12V battery. This problem was satisfactorily addressed under warranty. And even with the experience of having had this problem, I would still enthusiastically buy this car.

The car would be perfect if it wasn't for the 12v battery

12v Battery keeps dying and I have to restart the car with a portable battery "jumper"

Wonderful car. Roomy, great acceleration, and stable in snow

Mine is a 2023 IONIQ 5 SEL AWD, I was looking for a RWD on account of better range but found a good deed. The range on highway is quite good, about 250 miles in temperate weather at 65-67 mph. It can use Telsa charging stations with a complimentary adapter though I prefer Electrify America because of the faster charging rate. The acceleration is great, the handling is excellent in snow or wet roads. Interior appointment is very good, exterior fit and finish is excellent.

My favorite car ever

This is the ninth car I've owned in my life and it is by far my favorite that I've owned. It's my second electric, my first being a Kona EV., Which was fine, but not up to the standard that I wanted. The size of the ionic is perfect. The technology and the comfort are amazing. why it's not a five star review is purely because of Hyundai service, which is substandard. This is including dealer service as well as Hyundai customer service. I'm also concerned about the ICCU issue that I've read about as well as the fact that my 12 V battery has started to fail in the car so only two years old

Excellent fun-to-drive and efficient vehicle with reliability concerns

The Ioniq 5 is an outstanding EV, with an efficient, spacious design, fast-off-the-line acceleration, solid all-wheel-drive that can handle anything, and slick styling that turns heads. Unfortunately issues with its integrated charging unit (ICCU) have resulted in my requiring major service twice in under two years, and severely damage the reliability of the vehicle.

Fun to drive, lots of power, good handling. Miserable rattles and noises from the back hatch/ rear seat area. Unpleasant, interfering HDA when I don’t want it - every cycle of cruise control change turns i5 on again when I want it off.

Overpriced economy vehicle

Would not recommend this car. No rear wiper- total deal breaker for winter driving, poor electric range in winter, doesn’t hold any value even though car promises some “luxury features”

Hoping to make it back to 5 stars

I would have given my Ioniq 5 a full five stars until a month ago when it completely stopped working WHILE I WAS DRIVING. After three weeks at the dealership they were able to replace multiple parts (Iccu and battery) which hopefully means the car won't just stop while I am driving 55 on a busy road. I have loved everything about the car until this major mishap. Luckily this was covered by warranty, but I will now have to submit for rental car being reimbursed as the dealer had no loaners.

Iconic Ioniq

I have been driving my Ioniq for 2 years now and absolutely still love it. I have a long commute for work--45 min each way highway driving--and this car makes the commute way less miserable. It is comfortable to drive for long periods of time and I love the adaptive cruise control, especially with all my highway driving. I feel extremely safe in my vehicle and it handles well in the winter with my winter tires. If I have the opportunity, I would buy this vehicle again in the future!

Great except for the 12V battery problem.

We had to have the car towed when the 12V battery died. Lots of coverage of the 12V battery problem on the internet, but Hyundai seems unwilling to acknowledge that a problem exists. Hyundai should state that owners of Hyundai electric cars should have the 12V battery tested occasionally after a year and a half, and should expect to replace the 12V battery every two years or so.

No real updates left behind

Hyundai pretty mush said goodbye and good luck to anyone with out the CnCC system. Just how it is speculated to be happening to CnCC soon as the Pleos system goes active. No real loyalty to their patrons to want to keep with the platform.

very well made, comfortable, quiet, quick, very fast charging. and I love all the little details and tech: the automatic wipers, heated and cooled seats, automatic parking. It's just a well thought out vehicle that I appreciate every single time I drive it.

2023 Limited AWD

Best car I've ever owned. Almost completely trouble-free (I replaced the dead OEM battery myself at 11 months and 11,000 miles with an AGM battery). Driver's seat upholstery has torn slightly and I expect warranty to cover that. Car is very comfortable, fast, quiet and a real pleasure to drive, even in snow. Should have had a rear wiper, though!

Most comfortable car I have ever had, but can't ignore reliability.

In many ways, the Ioniq 5 is the best car I have every had. It is extremely comfortable and has a large number of helpful features. But the reliability issues can't be ignored. I have had multiple stops for unexpected service needs, both for recalls and unexpected vehicle issues. The ICCU issues also remains a lingering concern.

In simple words, hardware is very good but software needs to be upgraded. Love the design of the car but sensors acting erratically time to time. For example, when other car is approaching to adjacent lane on freeway, car gives warning for emergency brake.

Overall, we’ve been happy with the 2023 ionic five. Within too much of each other we had the ICCU fixed and the 12 V battery replaced, of course, both under warranty. We have been quite annoyed about the fact that we’ve not yet received our adapter for our battery charger, which we signed up to receive in the very beginning. We hope this matter will be resolved soon or we reflect negatively and how we view customer service at the corporate level. The car size is great. We’ve gotten as much as 370 miles for a charge in the summer if we’re going on a long road trip, and the interior is very comfortable, especially the heated seats and the heated steering wheel, which are great for my back and hand issues which are neuropathy related. I still believe that it’s the best EV SUV out there, but other car companies are closing the gap. The other upside is that we got a free charging unit to put on our house and $600 towards this installation. That was appreciated. The service department at our local Hyundai dealer has been responsive to our needs especially the repairs for the ICCCU and a 12 V battery. I would like Hyundai corporate to consider putting gel batteries as a 12 V batteries in instead of what they offer now gel 12 V batteries are far superior and their longevity is much better.

Issues with both batteries have been repaired in a timely fashion. We are still waiting and have been a communication with Hyundai regarding our charger adapter. We would like resolution to this issue soon, because it limits our travel. This is the free adapter that we signed up to receive back when we were invited, and we keep being told there’s a supply problem, but I don’t accept that, simply because the dealer can get one for me and then when I charge me $265, when Hyundai promised a free adapter early last year that we signed up for and have a case number four at the moment. So please resolve this quickly so we can travel a bit more to our friends in our retirement. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
