Have the peace of mind that charge will take time. After that, not going to the pump its a beautifull thing. No brake pads, no oil changes no problem Plan your trips.... thats the drawback

All Around Fun and Comfortable Commuter

While this car has certainly met what you'd expect from a budget EV in that it gets you from point A to point B with zero drama, I have been delighted with what a fun and comfortable car this is to drive. I commute 30 miles to work each day in traffic and on and off the highway, and just finished going through a brutally cold winter, and this car has handled it like a champ. I put a level 2 charger in at my home and since then it just charges within a few hours overnight and I don't have to pay for charging elsewhere. Like other EVs, this thing also has more zip and pickup than 90% of other gas cars on the road, so is incredibly fun to drive. The Bluelink system has gotten better and has been clutch for starting the climate system early so the car is warmed & defrosted in the winter before I come in, and it's good for monitoring the charge cycles. All in all, could not be happier with the purchase. I wish they would continue the line of low-cost Konas.

Excellent Value with Daring Design

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric has a lot to love with only a few things holding it back from greatness. Chiefly among them is the price. It's one of the lowest priced new electric vehicles in the US, but it doesn't look or feel that way. The exterior design is daring with the futuristic light bar that wraps around the front and the side panels have an aggressive z-fold that provides both structural rigidity and style. The interior is comfortable and sleek without feeling minimalist like other electric cars. A full array of climate control buttons makes it easy to stay comfortable. The dash is digital and flows over to the infotainment which thoughtfully skews toward the driver for ease of access. There's a lot of smooth plastic on the interior, which can feel cheap when you critically examine it, but during your normally commute or on road trips, you won't even notice. With the 64.8 kWh battery, you're estimated to get 260 miles of range, it's more than enough for daily trips and weekend getaways. The main detractor from the Kona electric is its charging speed. 20%-80% in 43 minutes feels fine occasionally, but for road trips you'll find yourself looking longingly at faster charging vehicles as they arrive after you and leave before you. If you have a single charging stop, you'll hardly think about it. On longer trips, where multiple charging stops are required, you'll be weighing your decision to save money on the Kona versus its faster charging rivals.

A very economical EV with plenty of power and 250 mile range. DC fast charging 20 to 80% in 40 minutes. Roomy interior and easy controls, excellent tech and safety features.

My Kona

Fun to drive. Love having all electric. Great safety features. Two problems. One is that I bang my knees on the housing for the steering wheel getting in the car. I’ve never had this issue in any car I’ve ever had. Second issue is that the charging cable which is level one, is utterly useless. It took 20 hours to charge the car 8% so I had to spend well over $1000 dollars putting a 220 line in the garage and another couple of hundred buying a level 2 charger. Not sure having the charging port in the front is a good idea as a simple fender bender might take out the ability to charge the car.
