Extremely Impressed So Far
Wow! I believe that Hyundai has really got it right with their new Palisade lineup! After almost three months of ownership, I believe that it is safe to say that I am so glad that I decided to purchase the Selected Premium trim rather than the Calligraphy—considering both price and standard features.
I traded my 2020 Palisade Limited that I owned for almost six years. I was a Toyota and Honda fan before stepping out on faith in May 2020 to purchase my first Hyundai, a first generation Palisade. I was highly skeptical at first but it just made more sense to consider the merits of Hyundai’s extended warranty specs versus Toyota’s standard warranty. Besides, the Palisade Limited offered much more for the money than a Toyota premium Highlander at the time in 2020.
Based on almost six years of reliability and solid performance of the Limited, I have zero regrets migrating to the Select trim! And my selecting the new Hybrid version rather than the standard alone 2.5L turbo or (under powered) V6 version really makes me feel like a genius. This is to say that Hyundai really got the Palisade powertrain, fuel economy thing right this time. The 2.5L turbo engine/hybrid combo is mighty impressive as far as power and fuel economy are concerned. I am an old school V6/V8 guy so it took me a minute to adapt to the sound of a four cylinder engine powering such a large vehicle. The combo gets the job done nicely!! Only time will tell if Hyundai’s ‘new’ four cylinder turbo ICEs are reliable.
At any rate, the Select Premium is a dream SUV as far as I am concerned. The build quality is excellent, the ride quality is superb, it has all the features anyone wants or needs (at least for me), And it gets unreal, outstanding fuel economy at present (averaging 30 to 34 mpg combined over a span of four or five fill ups.
I admit that there are ‘some’ features I liked in the 2020 Limited trim that I miss a little bit. However, there is nothing that can match the overall excellent improvements Hyundai has made for the 2026 Palisade lineup to make things more affordable. I am very sure of this! Yes, the Calligraphy is a true marvel of technology. But you better be ready to engage in some mind boggling features! The Select Premium features are just right!!
Lastly, I have to say that I am one happy camper; I have nothing bad to say about my new Palisade. Well, maybe just one thing: No Spare Tire included. Just like most other manufactures, Hyundai apparently does not provide a spare tire for its Hybrid vehicles (due to placement of the high voltage battery as they say (?)) I just thought I would mention this fact. However, it shouldn’t be a reason to dismiss an otherwise excellent vehicle. I highly recommend the Palisade Select Premium trim to anyone considering a great midsized Hybrid SUV!!!
