2025 Santa Fe review

The main two issues are as follows: - No spare tire is provided. This is a huge safety issue since the cheap air compressor and the puncture repair spray can will be useless if the tire can’t be repaired on site and you are outside cell phone coverage, you will be exposed to criminal elements and adverse weather danger. - the cranking battery on my Santa Fe left me stranded at least 4 times due to the unit being totally discharged. The Hyundai service department told me the battery was being discharged by the tracking low jack device/s installed by the dealer, the tracking devices were removed, but I still get low battery warnings. Internet searches indicate that battery issues is a well known problem to Hyundai but they refuse to fix the problem, which is due to installing inexpensive/inadequte batteries on the Santa Fe models.

Seating for six?

There are many things I love about the 2025 Santa Fe Calligraphy; HOWEVER, one of them is not the "seating for six." I tried to take six adults to a Milwaukee Brewer game; the two small women sitting in the back two seats struggled getting in and it was beyond a struggle for them to exit the vehicle! I felt bad for offering to drive. ALSO with those two rear seats up there was no room for coolers and chairs for a tailgate at the ball park. Previous to the 2025 Santa Fe, I had a 2020 Santa Fe. It seated five comfortably AND had plenty of storage room. I also miss the storage room "under the floor."

Spacious, solid vehicle that rides great with a lot of technology.

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe is a spacious, solid vehicle that rides extremely well and includes an impressive amount of technology. It is comfortable, quiet, and feels very substantial on the road. I have been very pleased with the overall quality, design, and driving experience. My only complaint is the automatic liftgate. It can open simply from walking or standing near the rear of the vehicle, which feels like a design flaw and can be inconvenient. Aside from that issue, I am very happy with the Santa Fe and would give it an excellent overall rating.

This car is a lemon

This vehicle has been in the shop for multiple reasons both in Michigan and in South Carolina. On two occasions it just stopped running. The fit and finish is horrible. It is suspected that it was damaged on the trip over from Korea.

Car is fantastic, eye position camera is terrible.

This is my 3rd Santa Fe and will be my last as long as the eye position camera disengages the cruise, slows the car down, pulls it over and gives me no ability to turn it off. This is a huge safety problem! I am currently checking around to trade it off for a SUV without that annoying feature. Continually getting “eyes on road” message when driving into the morning sun with sunglasses on.

Quality

This has been my favorite vehicle. It has a lot of helpful technology. Mileage is great. There are some technologies within that gets a bit too much. At times for example when you are backing out it will slammed on your breaks for you. I understand the safety aspect but the vehicle wasn’t that close for my vehicle to respond like that. Great gas mileage.

Life-Threatening Powertrain Issues

Our 2025 Hyundai Hybrid Santa Fe SEL experienced multiple (4+) instances where the combustion engine failed to provide power to the vehicle’s wheels. The engine continued to run, but only enough to maintain a charge to the hybrid battery system. When accelerating to speeds above 30 miles per hour or when traveling up inclines, the combustion engine’s rotations per minute (rpm) spiked, however the vehicle’s power-train still rapidly lost power and the hybrid battery drained significant charge. During one instance in November 2025, while attempting to accelerate to 55 mph up an incline, the hybrid battery drained enough that the vehicle was required to be pulled off the road to allow the battery to charge. During a April 2026 event, while containing a family of four (including two young children under six years of age), the vehicle failed to accelerate to 60 mph up an incline on an interstate freeway bridge. The vehicle rapidly slowed to between 20 and 30 mph, putting the family in grave danger from high-speed collisions. Following both instances, the on-board diagnostics computer was reset, “resolving the issue” and the Hyundai technicians elected to make no further repairs or replacements. The onboard diagnostics code P0191 was reported following the April 2026 event, however no codes or errors were identified by the Hyundai technician following the November 2025 event. No additional follow-up was performed, even though the vehicle remained under the manufacturer’s warranty.
